How to Make Smooth Slime

Start by making the borax solution. Take 1 teaspoon of borax powder and add it to 1 cup (240ml) of hot water. Stir until powder is dissolved and set aside for later use.

Pour 1/2 cup (120ml) of glue into another bowl.

Add 1/2 cup (120ml) of shaving cream to the glue bowl. {

Add 1/2 cup (120ml) of body wash or foaming soap (optional). Add shower gel or foaming soap to make the slime smoother, but it’s okay if you don’t use it.

Stir until the mixture is no longer lumpy. The mixture will have a thick and smooth texture, similar to marshmallow cream.

Add about a little more than 1 tablespoon (15ml) of cornstarch. The cornstarch helps to thicken the slime and keep its shape.

Cornstarch isn’t really needed in this recipe, but without it, the slime won’t be thick enough to hold its shape.

Stir well but be very careful. (Because cornstarch is easy to splash out).

Add body products to slime. To make the slime more durable, press the hand lotion bottle twice to get the body product into the slime..

You can skip this step if you don’t want to add it at the time – you can always add it later.

Add food coloring. Too much food coloring can stain hands or other surfaces, so if you’re using a strong color, only use 2 drops. Stir in the color until there are no white streaks left.

Add 3 teaspoons of borax solution to the slime. Stir well, then add 1-3 tablespoons of the borax solution at a time, until the slime is as firm as you want it to be.

You probably won’t use all of the borax solution. Be careful not to add too much so that the slime doesn’t harden and break apart. The original recipe uses only 6-9 teaspoons (44ml) of borax solution.

Stuffed slime. Once the slime has rolled into a ball and is easy to remove from the bowl, place it on a flat surface and knead by hand.

If the slime is still too sticky, add about 1 teaspoon of borax solution and knead carefully.

Apply body lotion on slime to increase elasticity. If the slime is smooth but not stretchy, add a little body product to the top of the slime, spread it evenly and knead again. Repeat until the slime has the stretch you want.

If you’re using the body lotion in a spray bottle, you’ll need 16 sprays to get the perfect stretch so don’t skimp!

Advice

If you add glitter, the slime will be hard. In case you want to use it, reduce the amount of borax.
The larger the container, the more room there will be to help the slime maintain its texture.
Acrylic paint can be used as a substitute for food coloring.
You can also use clear glue but it doesn’t matter. The slime mixture will no longer be transparent after adding shaving cream, so it’s best to just use regular white glue.
If you don’t have borax powder, try making slime with liquid starch, laundry detergent, or contact lens solution.
Replace cornstarch with baby powder if you don’t have enough cornstarch.
