Criminal Minds on CBS tells the story of a group of FBI profilers who deal with some of the most complex criminals and try to catch them through behavioural profiling.
The characters on the show are some of the most loved on television with one character in particular carving his way into the hearts of the biggest fans of the show, that is Spencer Reid.

CRIMINAL MINDS SEASON 12 SPOILERS ALERT
If you are watching on CBS every Wednesday you will be watching season 13 and may have a spotty memory about what happened in season 12 or may have just skipped it altogether.
Dr Spencer Reid spent all of the second half of season 12 of Criminal Minds in prison after being set up for a murder in Mexico.
The young BAU agent was framed for murder when he was in Mexico travelling to get important drugs to help slow down his mother’s Alzheimers.
We learn in season 11 that Reid’s mother, Diana is suffering from Dementia and in episode 4 of season 12 we learn than his mother has been accepted into a study on Alzheimer’s disease that shows signs of curing the disease.
However, due to cutback in funding of the trial study his mother is axed from the program so Reid goes on to find another solution.
He meets a woman in Texas called Rosa Medina who is a doctor who studies Alzheimers.
Reid travels to Mexico on several occasions to get illegal drugs to help his mother.
In episode 12 of the season he says he had unfinished business in Mexico, in the following episode he is arrested in Mexico on suspicion of drug possession with the intent to distribute, and the murder of Rosa, whose real name was Nadie Ramos.
Her body was found in the same hotel Reid was staying in.
Reid was extradited to the US but was not protected by his position in law enforcement as he was not in Mexico on official business.
The rest of the season chronicles the problems Reid encounters in prison and in his trail.
There is a twist at the end of season 12 that allows Reid’s name to be cleared.
In the beginning of season 13 he is reinstated as a agent under the condition that every 100 days he spend on the job, he takes thirty days off.
