Whirlpool Washer Reset

Your Whirlpool Washer reset may be all you need.

Whirlpool washer Model WTW4800XQ2, electronics control the functions of this washer.

Therefore, because power failures can interfere with electronics, along with other causes. The washer loses or get the wrong signal from its programing.

Because a malfunctioning Washer can overflow flooding your home. It is most important to repair any problems it may have. What if the water does not shut off? Loss of command signals a washer may try to spin out with out draining the water. The water will be thrown out if there is no signal that the washer still has water in the tub.

Since it only takes minutes to do a reset. It is certainly worth doing, to see if that fixes any of the problem with your washer. Because at times washers just seem to forget what cycle they should be doing.

Remember not all issues with your washer are hard to repair.

You are smarter than you think, things are not as hard when you know something about them.

Below is a guide with pictures, it will be most helpful in doing a reset yourself.

Special Note: While a reset is the most common procedure on these washers,

There however, a different procedure when changing major electronic parts. I advise you to re-calibrate the washer. See my link at the bottom of post, video on re-calibrate washer.

Washer Reset made easy

Although I have written out the instructions for the reset in an easy-to-follow order to make this as easy as possible for you. It is advisable to also check the photos with details marked out for you. It must be followed as shown for it to be successful.

Washer Reset Instructions

Step 1

Pull out the power plug to the washer, count to 10, plug back in the power cord.

When you pull the plug, it can aid in removing bad command signals stored in the system.

Step 2

Very Important to start with dial pointing to Top at Regular setting

Always double check with picture as there are double of some settings but in different cycles.

Step 3

Next, Turn dial left (counterclockwise) 1 click to Heavy Setting

If you miss a step or go past your stop, start over. Because it will not complete the reset mode.

Step 4

Turn Right (clockwise) 3 clicks to Casual Cycle Regular setting .

Because all these steps must be exact, double check with picture.

Step 5

Now Turn Left (Counterclockwise) 1 click to Light Setting.

Be sure to keep checking with the picture because there are double Light and Heavy settings.

Step 6

Almost there, Turn Right (Clockwise) 1 click to Casual Regular setting

Step 7

This is your last step. Push start button.

Because the Washer will start to wash you may want to preload the washer.
