Season 4, “When I Die, I Want Your Hands on My Eyes,” sees the titular club officially declaring war on the Sons of Anarchy following the death of Coco last week.
At the start of “When I Die, I Want Your Hands on My Eyes,” which is the sixth episode of Mayans M.C. Season 4, the club gets word about the attack on Oakland during a ceremony honoring the dead. Initially, they’re unsure about just who perpetrated the attack, but Hank soon learns Oakland was able to positively identified the Sons of Anarchy as its attackers. However, Alvarez asks Hank not to share that information until he can figure out just what’s going on.
As the day progresses, EZ Reyes and other members of the Santo Padre charter express a desire to get revenge for Coco. Still, Alvarez emphasizes just how bad war is and his desire to avoid it at all possible costs. Later, though, Manny — a member of the Yuma Mayans — arrives at the Santo Padre clubhouse, where he confirms the Sons of Anarchy were behind the attack. This results in a meeting in which Alvarez again tries to say they shouldn’t go to war, but EZ counters with a plan to take out the Sons of Anarchy’s leadership at UC Davis. In the end, Alvarez relents, and the Mayans M.C. declare that they’re officially at war with the Sons of Anarchy.

The current battle between the Mayans M.C. and Sons of Anarchy was set up in Season 3, when Taza hid the body of Allesandro Montez — a Road Captain for the Sons of Anarchy — on the Santo Padre clubhouse’s property. Montez was actually killed by El Palo, the president of the Vatos Malditos Motorcycle Club. Later, one of the Mayans M.C.’s bartenders, Jess, discovered Montez’s kutte and brought it to Terry, a member of the San Bernardino Sons of Anarchy.
