A common misconception is that subwoofers are loud, boomy thump
machines that simply make a lot of noise in dramatic movie action
scenes, or shake your insides with the very loud beat emanating from
the car next to you at the lights, or to add some boxy upper bass to a
tiny tinny sounding mass market satellite system –nothing should be
further from the truth.

A true subwoofer faithfully extends the music/sound on your CD, DVD,
Blue Ray, etc. to the frequency region below the reach of your normal
speakers (or the crossover point set on your home theatre amplifier).
It should simply continue the bass down, and down, without being too
loud, intrusive, slow, uneven in response, coloured or boomy. A good
subwoofer is musical, accurate, has a fast response and is uncoloured in a well built inert cabinet;
it enhances the realism of your music/movie, and your listening
pleasure, and does not stand out like a throbbing sore thumb!
All models have unique hybrid Transmission Line
bass-loading channels like most of our floorstanding speakers and are
musical, accurate, controlled, and perform beautifully and
delicately at low volume levels as well.

Remember, the power of a subwoofer should be two
to three times the power of one channel of your main HT
amplifier.

Any subwoofer can be ordered as a passive subwoofer for less cost, without a
built in plate amplifier, for customers who have their own outboard
subwoofer amplification and control.

SB Acoustics subwoofer driver. Description: Uses a
super detailed and fast 12″ driver with an increase in
efficiency, musicality and bass extension. This is one of the best
subwoofers made in Australia at this price, and has lovely free
flowing, controlled, musical, accurate and very satisfying deep bass
in our unique, channelled bass loading design. This STL version has a
high end 6 ohm 12″, suits critical music listening for audiophiles,
like the 1025STL but larger.
