COLUMBUS, Ohio – Gov. Mike DeWine unveiled a new coronavirus travel advisory map Wednesday evening, showing Idaho, Texas, Mississippi and South Carolina as states from which people arriving in Ohio are advised to self-quarantine for 14 days.
The four states have testing positivity rates above 15%, which is considered relatively high, and likely an indicator of high rates of infection among the general population.
This advisory is for both leisure and business travel, and should be heeded by both Ohioans and out-of-state travelers, a statement from DeWine says.
Ohio’s positivity rate as of Monday, the day for which the most recent information is available, was 4.1%, making the state one of just 21 states, plus Washington, D.C., with rates under 5% over the last two weeks.
The following are the positivity rates of the four states, based on a seven-day rolling average:
-Idaho: 16.1%
-Texas: 16.3%
-South Carolina: 21.1%
-Mississippi: 27.4%
The last travel advisory map, released Aug. 11, had six states: Idaho, Nevada, Arizona, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida.
