Netflix’s upcoming teen sitcom series That ‘90s Show finally has an official premiere date. A spinoff of the popular series, That ‘70s show, the series was announced by the streamer on October 2021. With Debra Jo Rupp and Kurtwood Smith reprising their role as Kitty and Red Forman, Season 1 will have 10 episodes. So, when does the series drop on Netflix? Keep reading to find out the details!
That ‘90s Show Is Filmed With A Live Studio Audience
That ‘70s Show aired on Fox for a total of eight seasons from 1998 to 2006. It centered on the lives of teenagers from 1976 to 1979. The series garnered additional popularity after it was made available to stream on Netflix. However, the show soon left the streaming platform in September 2020. Produced by The Carsey-Werner Company, the upcoming series takes on a multi-camera format like the original. Moreover, the show was filmed in front of a live studio audience in Los Angeles between February 7 and July 21, 2022.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Ashely Aufderheide, Callie Haverda, Mace Coronel, Reyn Doi, Maxwell Ace Donovan, and Sam Morelos have joined the cast. As reported by ComicBook, the series will also see OG characters Wilmer Valderrama, Topher Grace, Laura Prepon, Ashton Kutcher, and Mila Kunis in recurring roles. The series is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on January 19, 2023.
That ‘70s Show Inspired Several Spinoffs
Back in 1999, the original series was remade by the ITV network in the UK with the title Days Like These. The series had an almost similar script with minor changes pertaining to cultural references. That ‘70s Show also inspired another spinoff titled That ‘80s Show. However, the storylines and characters from the previous show never crossed paths with the new spinoff. It was based on a separate decade with different casts although the show structure, writers, and production staff were the same.

That ‘80s Show debuted on January 23, 2002, and its Season 1 finale episode aired on May 29, 2002. The series didn’t receive the same popularity as the original after which it wasn’t renewed for another season.
That ‘90s Show Centers On Eric Foreman’s Daughter, Leia
The upcoming Netflix spinoff will center on Leia (played by Callie Haverda), Eric’s daughter, who is staying with her grandparents for the summer. Throughout the series, she tries to understand and be friends with a new generation of teens from her parents’ hometown. Initially, the series was intended to be a 10-episode limited show. However, now the producers are talking about more seasons.
