Michael Rainey Jr., is an American actor. He has been featured in Sesame Street, commercials, music videos, and print work. He portrays Michael Burset in Orange Is the New Black.

Early Life[]

Michael was born on September 22, 2000, in Louisville, Kentucky, USA.

Career[]

Michael made his first on-screen appearances being cast in Sesame Street and doing commercials and music videos.

Michael’s first movie was Un Altro Mondo (2010) directed by Silvio Muccino, in which he played the lead character, Charlie, alongside Silvio Muccino. Michael, who is American, lived in Italy for some time to prepare for this film and went from speaking only English to speaking Italian for his role. Michael’s first film in America is “LUV”, directed by Sheldon Candis, where he starred alongside Common and worked with others such as Danny Glover, Dennis Haysbert, Meagan Good, Charles Dutton and Michael Kenneth Williams. He also featured in The Butler, a Lee Daniels film starring Forest Whitaker and Oprah Winfrey, where he played the Butler as a child. He had the privilege of working with Vanessa Redgrave, Mariah Carey, David Banner and more. He also starred in the movie Barbershop: The Next Cut, playing Ice Cube’s son, Jay.

Personal Life[]

Michael enjoys music; he takes piano lessons and enjoys making his own music. In his spare time, Michael gives back to the community through his involvement in Find and Feed, an organization dedicated to helping the homeless, which is based in Indiana. He also does independent work shopping for the less fortunate during Christmas time, supplying coats for the homeless and feeding them. Michael also enjoys playing basketball, video games and playing with his two terriers. [1]
