Legendary singer Pat Boone mourns the loss of wife Shirley, who just passed away at age 84

Legendary pop icon Pat Boone’s wife Shirley has passed away at the age of 84.

The couple were married back in 1953 and were together for 65 years.

Mrs. Boone died on Friday morning in her home due to complications from vasculitis, which is an inflammation of the blood vessels, according to People.

When she passed she was surrounded by husband Pat, and their four daughters Debby, Cherry, Linda and Laura.

Pat, also 84, offered the outlet a sweet message about his life-long love right after her death.

‘We lived a wonderful, blessed life together for 65 years,’ the I’ll Be Home crooner said, ‘I’ve parted with my better half for a little while… but we don’t die, we just move on to another place, and today was moving day.’

He went on to say ‘she’s changed her address is all and moved to a different mansion that I expect to join her in one day. I’m very confident of that.’

The legend also claimed that his understanding of what happens in the afterlife has softened the blow of the loss.

Speaking of his loved-one’s transition: ‘that took the sting out of what happened today because we know we’re gonna be together again and have a whole new beginning.’

The couple began their courtship back when they were both 16-years-old, but it wasn’t until age 19 that Pat asked Shirley’s father for her hand in marriage.

Apparently the scene was quite dramatic, with Pat revealing ‘he tearfully asked me one thing, ‘Will you take care of my girl?’ and I said I would, and the tears rolled into his coffee because he knew he was moving and planned to take her with him, but he was willing to leave her with me.’

Following the interaction, the pair eloped in 1953, and quickly had their four daughters over the next five years.

While they raised their family in New Jersey, they eventually moved to Beverly Hills, where Shirley concentrated on various charity endeavors and writing her best-selling book One Woman’s Liberation.

‘She had an honest, deep, earnest love for people and her desire to help people as activist,’ gushed Pat, ‘she was so easy to love because she loved so easily and so naturally.’
