Jordan Davis has announced that he and his wife, Kristen are going to be adding “a few limbs to your family tree” as they are expecting their third child.
“We pushed the limits once more. We got another one coming in June. I gotta figure out how to not have kids in the summer because I’m usually pretty busy. I don’t know what I was thinking then but, you know I’m so excited,” Davis said in a statement to his label.
He added that they don’t know the gender of their baby yet and they will most likely hold off on revealing that information until they welcome their little one into the world.
“There truly is no greater joy in the world than welcoming a baby, and we don’t know what it is. We’re gonna wait and find out, but (we’re) really excited come June to be bringing home a baby brother or a baby sister to Lock and Eloise. So far Kristen’s been great. Everything looks healthy, you know, we’re just continuing to pray for a safe delivery and looking forward to meeting the little fella or little girl here soon. I’m pumped.”
Davis took to social media to share the exciting news on Thursday (Feb. 23) using his sentimental song and current radio single, “Next Thing You Know.”
Changing up the lyrics to fit the big news, he sang, “Next thing you know / you got a baby coming in June / acted out the words in no time soon.”
He added, “She got knocked up. Baby number three coming.” While looking to his pregnant wife the country singer asked, “is that how we’re saying it babe? You got knocked up?”
“I think we can find a better way to say that,” Kristen added with a laugh.
“We’re pregnant. Again. Next thing you know…” Davis concluded.
The “Slow Dance In A Parking Lot” singer and his wife are currently parents to their 3-year-old daughter Eloise Larkin and their 1-year-old son their son, Locklan Joseph, whom they welcomed into the world on September 4, 2021.
The couple definitely followed the song’s original message which depicts just how fast life can change without you even realizing it.
“You weren’t really tryin’, next thing you know / There’s a test on the counter, next thing you know / She’s standin’ there cryin’, noddin’ her head, “Yes” / You’re half excited, half scared to death,” Davis sings in the second verse, which eventually leads to him dreaming of having grandchildren at the end of the song.
“Next Thing You Know” is a featured track on Davis’ brand new album, Bluebird Days. Within his sophomore collection, he dives into the depths of his true emotions while reflecting on the current stage of his life, how he got to this point and what’s to come next.
“I think for me, the main thing I wanted it to be is the most honest record or collection of songs that I’ve ever put out,” Davis shared with Country Now and other outlets.
At its core, the title “Bluebird Days” stems from a duck hunting term that reflects “cold, clear skies, sunshine, and a strong north wind.” With all these variables, hunters have been likely to encounter some ducks flying overhead.
However, Davis took this meaning to a deeper level as he looked at it through the eyes of someone who has seen great success recently. Over the past few years, Davis can proudly say he has grown both personally and professionally; as a husband and father alongside his wife and kids as well as in his career with multiple awards for his double platinum-certified hit with Luke Bryan, “Buy Dirt,” and several back-to-back No. 1 singles.
While his achievements show no signs of slowing down, Davis also acknowledges that he knows it could all be gone in an instant. This is echoed in the title track, along with the whirlwind that has been his life lately.
“The song itself, for some reason, I don’t know why I felt like I needed to write on this,” Davis revealed in talking about his song “Bluebird Days.” “Maybe it’s because I’ve had some friends that have been married and they’re going through divorces right now, and it just seems kind of common. I wanted to kind of touch on that now that I’m a dad.”
In addition to “Buy Dirt” and “Next Thing You Know,” Bluebird Days features several previously released fan favorites including “Money Isn’t Real,” “No Time Soon, “Part Of It,” “Next Thing You Know,” “Midnight Crisis” with Danielle Bradbery, and his latest single and fifth career No.1, “What My World Spins Around.”
Jordan Davis is currently on the road with Thomas Rhett on the Canadian leg of the Bring The Bar To You Tour. The trek kicked off in Vancouver on February 9, 2023 and will visit various cities around Canada through February 25.
He will then hop over the pond for C2C Festival. He’ll also visit Australia this spring.
