Since Jojo part 5 Vento aureo (Golden wind) is over and there won’t be Jojo Friday’s anymore, it’s time to talk about the next part, more specifically the main character of part 6: Jolyne Cujoh. Please do not spam with ,,Part 6 never” memes it’s not funny, didn’t laugh.
Anyways, I just finished Stone ocean (again) and I must say that I’m impressed with the story and characters that appeared in this part. Jolyne is definitely my favourite character alongside Anasui and Pucci. I’m also planning to do her cosplay cause why not UwU. And since Stone ocean is from year of 2000, I decided to talk about this badass Jojo female character for the catalogue event.
Before we start, here’s a yellow warning for spoilers. I’ll try to avoid most of them as much as I can. You’ve been warned.

Basic info

,,Didn’t you say that everything should have a name? I want to give her a name too… Stone Free… because I want to be free from this ‘stone ocean’!”
Jolyne Cujoh is a main character of Jojo’s bizarre adventure manga, part called Stone ocean. She is the daughter of Jotaro Cujoh which means that she is also a member of the famous Joestar bloodline. She was framed for the murder she didn’t commit and was sentenced for 15 years in prison. While spending time in Green dolphin street prison, Jolyne was visited by her mother, who gave her a mysterious pendant that let her obtain stand abilities. Later, her father Jotaro came to explain her the reason why was she framed and while they where talking, stand called Whitesnake stole her father’s memories and his stand power, Star Platinum. That lead Jolyne to a whole new and dangerous adventure of getting back her father’s memory disk.
I literally spoiled the first chapter… WELL I HAD TO.

Why do I like this character
🦋
🦋
Now, don’t get me wrong, I don’t want to write that basic JojoWiki Fandom character bio because you can simply google her name and you’ll find much better information than here. I want to talk about why did I specifically choose Jolyne over all characters from Stone ocean and over whole other Jojo characters. You know, I want to give _My_ personal opinion, to make this wiki unique.
Note: While stating my reasons for loving this character I will cover those informations like her appearance, backstory and story.
First of all, this isn’t about that famous feminism thing or anything. It’s just a surprising fact that Araki added a female Jojo character and that’s all. Second, I haven’t related to a single anime or manga character before like with Jolyne. Third, her character was perfectly displayed and the fate she had was sad and therefore she deserves my and your attention, you part skipper. Yes I know about those idiotic “Since part5 is over why won’t DP skip part 6 and directly animate Steel Ball Run” memes and I don’t like them tbh. Now, let’s dig in my dweebs 🦋.
If you’re a man of culture, you didn’t skip part 1 and 2 and therefore you probably saw Jolyne in the Phantom Blood’s ,,Sono chino sadame” opening. Actually she’s the first Jojo who was displayed in the opening. That’s why I was curious about her when I started Jojo. Tbh she was the reason why I moved from anime only to manga fan (yes I was dumb enough to read all parts just to find out who she was cause Googling is boring). Ngl that moment in the opening was cool af even tho it was a straight spoiler lmao.

Connection with the character
Ok, time to reveal some personal info :eyes: :eyes: . Jk it’s not that personal lol. First, I’ll start with the major thing that forced me to love and understand Jolyne: her relationship with her father. Unlike her I wasn’t completely left by my dad but, I have a weird relationship with him like with an outcast who I had to share my home with. Barely talked to him and never felt that father-daughter thing. When my parents divorced last year, that small relationship I had with him started to fade away even tho I’m still seeing him and chilling sometimes. And since I don’t live with him anymore I started to feel like he never existed in my life. Something kinda similar to Jolyne (kinda). She is furious towards her father for not being there for her when she needed him, she felt betrayed and rejected by him. But! She tried to get his attention multiple times by doing some small crimes. Don’t worry I haven’t commit any crime in my life, I just tried to get his attention by doing some stupid things like breaking my toys or constantly asking him to help me with my homework even tho he wanted for me to be independent girl who can do everything by herself. Also at some point she risked her life to save him because she believed in that so called relationship and probably thought that if she ends this battle, they could start over again and live like proper family.
^^^^^^^^
I related way too much to this and I never cried like before when I read this. Thank you Araki for studying well psychology, this was beautiful and heartbreaking because of how true it is.
Ahem, let’s continue, with ,,our” personality that I also relate to, except that “delinquent” part lol. Both Jolyne and I were forced to learn what being independent at young age means. You know that moments when you need help from your parents and they literally fck you off with ,,do it yourself”? Well I listened to that on a daily base until I stopped with asking for help. Not just parents, friends, professors and family in general. Same goes for Jolyne but she didn’t become a lone wolf like me because she surrounded herself with friends who are capable of offering help while I’m just stuck with idiots who respect me at least.
Determination. My favourite word. After learning of Dio’s plan, Jolyne took pride in her lineage and opted to continue Jotaro’s effort to seal the menace DIO left behind him. Her determination to both save her father and stop Pucci was so great and marvellous that she was ready to die for it. Give your everything to something you’re determined, that’s my moto. Because of that determination she was respected and encouraged by her friends and cell mates. My friends often tell me that I’m crazy because of what I’m capable to do to obtain my goal, it’s just who I am and that’s how I was learned to live.
When it comes to treasuring friends and family, I’m also relating to that too, kinda. That part of me always leaves me behind like a naive fool. Ready to give everything to help her friends and those who are in need she obtained many friendships and few betrayals too. Unlike her I’m hard to be befriended because of my rich history with many fake friendships but those who I love and care about, I’m ready to even kill If I have to and want to, at least that’s just what my zodiac says lol. Even tho my family is a mess and I know those dark parts, I still care for them deeply and I can’t just hold grudges against those who are my bloodline.
Btw her badass b*tch attitude is also my favourite thing about her. Can’t deny that.

Final thoughts
Araki stated that he had problems and thinks that he failed in creating Jolyne’s character. Not all females are nice, girly looking and air headed. Not all females like pink color or care about minor stuff like makeup or look. Some of us are independent and don’t need a male’s muscle to guard us always. We are all different and so is Jolyne. Definitely unusual shounen protagonist if you ask me.
Relatable, unusually unique, independent and badass. That’s who Jolyne Cujoh is. A perfect 10/10 for a character.
