- Jaclyn Hill has threatened to delete her social media, following further harassment online from followers and trolls
- This time, the final straw was a video from a follower making allegations about her biological father, who Jaclyn has no relationship with.
- The news comes after her social media silence earlier this year, which Jaclyn says was due to poor physical and mental health, and self-medicating with alcohol
Jaclyn Hill finds herself at the centre of online scrutiny and harassment once more this week, this time as a video surfaced revealing alleged personal details about her biological father.
In response to the allegations, Jaclyn took to Twitter to (quite rightly) defend herself and explain exactly why it’s not okay to discuss her personal life:
“This is absolutely DISGUSTING!! I refuse to watch this video, but just the title and the thumbnail is so awful. What is wrong with you that you think it’s okay to even speak about my birth father when I haven’t even spoke to him in 10 years. Mind your damn business. Too far!”
In a response to Jaclyn’s tweet, a concerned follower pointed out to Jaclyn that the harassment was sadly likely to continue “til they break you or at least run you off social media or the beauty community completely [sic]”.
Jaclyn’s response says it all:
“They are close to achieving that goal.”
It’s not the first time Jaclyn’s been pushed to the limit by trolls online. In June she deleted her social media accounts after controversy with her new make-up line, wherein customers who bought her lipsticks reported finding unknown fibres, holes, small ‘plastic’ balls, and what appeared to be ‘metal’ fragments, embedded in the formula.
Back in September 2018 she posted the following words, which serve as a warning to online commenters to think about the consequences of their actions:
“It’s not fun, it’s not fun anymore. It’s not fun for you guys, it’s not fun for me. I’ve always said that if YouTube isn’t fun, I’m not gonna do it. There’s other avenues out there for me for income. I’m not going to do something that you guys don’t like and something that I don’t like. I just don’t want to disappoint you guys that’s all.
“I hope that this doesn’t come across as victim mentality because that’s not where I’m coming from at all. But as of recently, I feel like I really can’t do much, without being extremely criticised, and looked down upon, and scrutinised. And it just takes away the fun, and the creativity, and the motivation, and the passion to do what I do.”
Jaclyn has fought various forms of online bullying in recent years, and we’re hoping her more supportive followers, plus friends and family can offer her the support she needs.
