How to Use a Neti . Pot

Steps

Clean the Neti tank. After a period of not being used, the Neti jar can become a breeding ground for certain types of bacteria. Prevent these microorganisms from entering the body by washing the Neti jar with soap and warm water. Allow the jar to dry completely naturally before use.

Make a saline solution with sterile water. Mix 1/4 teaspoon of fine powdered non-iodized salt or about 1/2 teaspoon of large-grained salt (table salt) in a Neti pitcher with 240 ml of warm, boiled or filtered water until the salt is completely dissolved.

Get into the pose. Bend over the sink and tilt your head to one side so that your ear is facing the sink. Keep the forehead at the same height as the chin or slightly higher. Finally, tilt your head slightly to allow the saline solution to flow out of the other nostril.

Exhale through the nose. To prevent saline from entering your throat or nose, you need to exhale through your nose. Avoid talking and laughing to prevent your throat from opening and allowing water to flow in.
