Equipment Needed
PowerXL Air Fryer 7 QT Maxx Classic- is my favorite air fryer that I use everyday. If you have not invested in an air fryer for your kitchen, this is a must have appliance!
key ingredients
frozen broccoli- frozen broccoli florets are just as good as buying fresh broccoli.
olive oil- I am a fan of using a high quality olive oil for roasting my vegetables, but avocado oil will work well too.
garlic- you can buy a whole head of garlic and mince an individual clove or buy the pre-chopped garlic in the jar. If you prefer you can use a ¼ teaspoon of garlic powder instead.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Place the broccoli florets in a large mixing bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, sea salt, cracked black pepper and minced garlic. Use a spoon to stir the broccoli to cover well with the oil.
Pour the broccoli into the bottom of an air fryer basket. For best results keep in a single layer and do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
Set the air fryer to 400 degrees and the cooking time for 6 minutes.
Give the florets a good stir at the halfway point to insure even roasting.
Expert Tips
There is no need for aluminum foil for the basket of the air fryer. It will stop the hot air from circulating in the air fryer which is what produces the crispy broccoli.
Do not use cooking sprays in air fryer. If you want to spray the broccoli make sure it is an olive oil spray like this refillable one I use.
I did not have any excess water from the frozen florets. If there is any it will drain through to the bottom of the air fryer basket.
Variations
The great thing about broccoli is that you can add so many different flavors to it! Try some of my favorite ways to jazz up this healthy side dish! Experiment to find your favorite seasonings!
- lemon zest and lemon juice
- parmesan cheese
- red pepper flakes
- onion powder
- Italian seasoning
