How to Measure Breasts

If you want to buy a shirt or suit that fits, you’ll need to know your bust measurements. To measure your bust, all you need is a tape measure and a pencil to write down your measurements. Measure bust for women

Set the tape measure. This kind of tape measure can be easily wrapped around the body and measure the curve accurately. If you don’t have a measuring tape, you can wrap a piece of string around your body, then measure the length of the rope with a straightedge.

Have someone else measure for you. Measuring your breasts yourself will be a bit difficult; so, if possible, you should ask someone else for help. Otherwise, you’ll have to take extra care to make sure the tape measure at the back doesn’t skew.

Take off your shirt, but still wear your bra. Wearing an extra shirt will increase the measurement by a few centimeters. Since you’ll be wearing a bra under the outfit you’re going to make, it’s a good idea to measure your bust while wearing your bra.

Wrap the tape measure around a loop. Place the tape measure so that it is parallel to the ground and just below the armpit. Loop the tape measure behind your back and pull the ends of the tape measure forward, wrapping it around the widest part of your chest.

Do not puff out your chest or inhale; you just need to stand normally.
Make sure the tape measure is not twisted.

Measure bust for men

Find a tape measure. This ruler is made of soft material that makes it easy to wrap around your body. If you don’t have a measuring tape, you can wrap a piece of string around your chest and measure the length of the string with a straightedge.

Try asking someone to help you measure your bust. You will get the most accurate measurements when you ask someone to help you hold the ruler because they will make sure the tape measure is wrapped neatly around the back. However, you can still get an accurate bust measurement if you want to measure it by yourself.

If you have to measure your bust yourself, you should do it in front of a mirror to see if the tape measure is parallel to the ground when wrapped around your chest.

Undress. Wearing more clothes will increase the measurement; so it’s better not to wear a shirt when measuring your bust.

Wrap the tape measure around your chest. Adjust the tape measure so that it wraps around your chest and just below your armpits. Hold the tape measure around the widest part of the bust, usually above or right at the nipple. If you’re measuring your bust yourself, make sure the number on the ruler is facing out so you can read it when you look in the mirror.

Hold the tape measure with both hands in front of your chest so you can see the measurement clearly.
Look in the mirror and make sure the tape measure is not twisted.
Make sure the tape measure is wrapped around your chest at the same height and parallel to the ground.

Relax while standing. Don’t puff out your chest or strain your muscles. This will cause the measurement to increase by a few centimeters and lose accuracy.

Note your measurements. Look in the mirror and look at the point where one end of the string meets the rest of the tape measure in front of your chest. The number at that point is your bust measurement.

Do not look down to read the measurement as this may cause the tape measure to slip out of place. Instead, you should look in the mirror.
Add 5cm to the measurement when you want a slightly looser garment, such as a shirt. Always round off measurements when buying clothes.
