How to Kill Bugs

Seal the house. Bugs often enter homes through cracks or openings from the outside. Go outside and double-check for possible entry points for bugs.

• Pay special attention to areas near doors and windows. Is there a gap under the door or between the window frame and the wall?
• Seal openings with sealant or other hard and impenetrable material.

Buy good quality door screens. If you want to enjoy the cool summer breeze when the weather is warm, keep bugs (and other creatures) out of your home with a screen door. Make sure the mesh fits snugly against the door frame so that bugs don’t slip through gaps or openings.

• If the grille is old, you need to check it out to see if it needs to be repaired or upgraded. Metal or fiber mesh is often punctured, and just one hole can allow bugs to enter.
• Windows aren’t the only places that need a grid. You’ll also need to install netting at the ends of chimneys, gutters or pipes, drains, vents, and any openings where bugs can find their way into your home.

Remove bug eggs. The bugs feed on fruits and vegetables and lay clumps of drum-shaped eggs that stick to the undersides of leaves. You can find bug eggs when the weather warms up in the spring and apply measures to eradicate the eggs.

• The soapy water method is effective both outdoors and indoors. Use a stick to pluck the eggs and any nearby bugs from the fallen leaves into the bucket of soapy water.
• If you have a garden or fruit tree that you think might be a breeding ground for bugs, consider pruning or removing it. It is very difficult to get rid of bugs completely if they still have a food source around.
• Trim bushes, weeds, and dense foliage to prevent bugs from laying eggs in your yard.

Use yellow to kill bugs. Bugs are attracted to yellow, and that’s one of their weak points that you can use to place yellow sticky traps around your garden. When bugs land on traps, they will not be able to fly away.

• However, this color can also be detrimental if you love yellow daisies or sunflowers. You need to remove yellow flowers grown in the yard or planted far away from home to avoid attracting bugs.
• In addition to bugs, insects that help pollinate flowers are also attracted to and caught in this trap. If your garden depends on bees or other insect pollinators, you may have to consider using a different method.

Use paper tape with a width of 5 cm to catch the bugs. Take a piece of tape about 15cm long, cover the bug, press down with moderate force so that the bug adheres to the tape. Quickly lift the tape and fold it, wrapping the bug inside. It won’t have enough time to release the bad smell. Sometimes the bugs don’t stick to the tape right away; then you need to do it again and press a little harder. Bugs will stick much easier when turned upside down.

Use a plastic bag or paper towel to catch the bugs. If you see a bug in your home, line your hands with a plastic bag or tissue, carefully pick it up, and throw it away right away. The bug will release a noxious odor when it senses danger, and the substance runs the risk of getting on your hands if you touch it.

• Don’t squeeze the bug when you catch it. You will have a hard time getting rid of its smell in the house.
• If you catch bugs in the winter, you can leave them outside. The bugs will freeze when they’re outside in cold temperatures, so they can’t find their way into your home.
• You can also put the bugs in the toilet and flush them or keep them in a sealed bottle and throw them away.

Put the bugs in the soapy water. Bugs will quickly drown when put in soapy water, and scented soaps can drown out the smell of bugs. Pour soapy water or dishwashing liquid into a bucket or other container to release the bugs in when you catch them.

• If you find bugs on the walls or curtains, you can shove them straight into the bucket. Place the bucket underneath and use a broom or brush to push them down into the bucket.
• When you are about to dispose of the bugs you have caught, you must comb the dead bugs in a bucket of soapy water and throw them or flush them down the toilet.

Use a vacuum cleaner to suck up bugs on floors and walls. ^[2] This method saves you from touching them. When vacuuming bugs, you need to change the vacuum bag immediately; otherwise, the vacuum cleaner will smell like bugs.

• Do not use a vacuum cleaner without a trash bag. The smell of bugs will haunt the house if you use this type of vacuum cleaner.
• If you have to deal with swarms of bugs entering your home, consider buying a vacuum specifically designed to clean up bugs.
