Continue reading below to learn how to get someone’s Facebook password using an email address and the Trusted Contacts feature.
Steps
Access someone else’s account
- Use this method if you are a close friend or relative of someone who is missing, is having trouble, or is asking you to access their account for some reason.
- If you’re already signed in to your account, log out right away by clicking the down arrow in the top-right corner of the page and selecting Log Out .
- If you have access to the person’s email account or phone number, select the option you can access, and follow the onscreen instructions to obtain the verification code. The verification code will help you regain account access.
- Facebook encourages users to designate a trusted contact for their account in case their account is locked – if this person has designated you (or someone you both know) as contact person trusted, you can login their account.
- If this friend has specified the name you just entered as a trusted person, you’ll see all of the trusted contacts, along with the URL.
- Call or text each trusted contact and direct them to go to https://www.facebook.com/recover and sign in. This is to generate a code that your contact will send you.
- If you are one of your trusted contacts, you need to do this too. However, you need to log in to your Facebook account when performing the operation.
- Enter the code generated by the trusted contact and click Continue .
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset your password and access your account.
- If you still can’t access the account, you can try a document that stores the password on the person’s computer. That document may be named “Passwords” or “Passwords” if they have already created it.
- If you want to access someone’s account who is missing or has legal problems, contact your local authority. Law enforcement can access a user’s Facebook account if they have the appropriate warrant.
Set up trusted contacts
- If you have a trusted contact set up, you can click Edit to make changes.
- The person designated as a trusted contact will receive a notification once you take the action.
- Click Forgot password? (Forgot password?) on the Facebook login page, and then follow the on-screen instructions to search for the account name by entering an email address or phone number.
- If you can’t access the account on the list, click No longer have access to these? (Can’t access these accounts?).
- Enter a new email address you can access and click Continue .
- Click Reveal My Trusted Contacts and enter the name of one of the people you added. You’ll see all your trusted contacts here.
- Send a link to a trusted contact via email or text and ask them to view the information. After they log into their account, they will be asked to send you a code so you can log in to your account.
- Enter each contact’s code and click Continue . This will help you sign in to your account.
Password protection
- Log in to your Facebook account.
- Click the down arrow in the upper right corner to open the menu.
- Click Settings & Privacy and select Settings .
- Click the Security and Login tab on the left.
- Click Edit next to “Use two-factor authentication”.
