Steps
Using an iPhone or iPad
- If you’re signed in to your device and see your name at the top of the screen, you’ll tap it to go to another page with an email address below your name. That email address is your Apple ID.
- If you’re using an older version of iOS, you’ll select iCloud and see the info at the top of the screen to see if you’re signed in to your device. If you’re signed in, you’ll see an email address below your name. That email address is your Apple ID.
- If using an older iOS version, would you choose Forgot Apple ID or Password? (Forgot Apple ID or Password?).
- A confirmation code will be sent via text message. If the confirmation code is not entered automatically, you will enter it yourself and select Next .
- If there is no link to the phone number, you would choose Don’t have access to your trusted number? (No link with a valid phone number?) at the bottom of the screen and follow the prompts to recover your Apple ID.
- Your password must be at least 8 characters (including numbers, lowercase letters and at least one uppercase letter) with no spaces. In addition, the password cannot have 3 consecutive identical characters (e.g. ggg), Apple ID and the password used in the previous year cannot be used as the new password.
- Your Apple ID will show up in the “Apple ID” field.
- The screen will display a “Signing into iCloud” message when the system accesses your data during the sign-in process.
- Your Apple ID is the email address that appears below your name at the top of the screen.
Use a computer
- If you’re signed in to your Mac with an Apple ID account, the email address below your name displayed on the left side of the main window is your Apple ID.
