The story of Eevee is one of the most unique stories in the whole Pokémon franchise. Eevee is able to evolve into eight different Pokémon, all of which are of different types and is the only Pokémon with such a complex evolution line. And while each “Eeveelution”, as they are known, is special, in this article, we are going to deal with two of them, as we explain how to evolve your Eevee into Espeon and Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus.
Like in the previous games, both Espeon and Umbreon, who were first introduced in Generation II, are obtained when you manage to level up your Eevee with Max Friendship (earlier, it was Affection). The only difference is that Espeon is only obtainable during the day, while Umbreon is obtainable during the night.
This article is going to function more as an in-game guide to the Pokémon Legends: Arceus game, or one of its Pokémon, to be precise. You’re going to find out how exactly to evolve your Eevee into its Generation II evolutions, Umbreon and Espeon, in the Pokémon Legends: Arceus video game. We’re going to tell you what you need to do to get each of them in the newest Pokémon game.
How to get Espeon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?
Espeon is fiercely loyal to its trainer once it becomes attached to them. This loyalty goes so far that this Pokémon has evolved the ability of Prophecy to protect its trainers from harm. With its fine, short fur that feels like velvet, Espeon can use air movements to instantly recognize which attack its opponent is planning in combat or if the weather is about to change outside of combat.
This can be visually recognized by the fact that the tip of its two-part tail begins to tremble. When it uses Psychic powers, the orb on its forehead glows, from which it also fires Psychic attacks. If Espeon runs out of power, the color of the orb loses its shine. It is rarely found in the wild and appears more frequently in urban areas.
Espeon is a medium-sized, four-legged Pokémon that appears light purple, red, and dark blue. With the exception of the dark blue inner ear and the red bead, the Psychic Pokémon is completely purple in color. Espeon has a slim and lithe body. The big ears are particularly noticeable. Directly below them, long and wide tufts of hair grow down on each side.
The face is composed of the elongated eyes, the small nose and the small mouth. There is also a pearl on the forehead. The eyes consist of dark purple sclera and white pupils. A wide neck connects head to body. The four legs are very slender and the tail splits in about the last quarter. In its Shiny form, the light purple fur is tinged with bright green.
Like in all the previous games, Espeon is obtained during the day when you manage to level up your Eevee with Max Friendship (earlier, it was Affection).
How to get Umbreon in Pokémon Legends: Arceus?
Umbreon are rarely found in the wild and are more commonly found in urban areas under the care of humans. This Pokémon is generally nocturnal. It hides under cover of darkness, where it tenaciously lurks for prey. The rings on his body light up in different situations. This can be during its attack or while it is exposed to the moonlight (especially a full moon).
But even without the presence of moonlight, its rings glow faintly in the dark. If it finds itself in a dangerous situation, it ideally hides in the dark. If it cannot escape and feels threatened, it secretes toxic sweat from special skin pores to protect itself.
Umbreon is a medium-sized, four-legged Pokémon that appears in black and yellow. The fur is completely black. Exceptions to this are the yellow patterns on the legs, ears, forehead and tail. The Dark-type Pokémon has an elegant, slender body. The long, pointed and rounded ears grow on the head. A thick stripe runs down the middle.
The face consists of the elongated eyes, which in turn are made up of red sclera and black, elongated pupils, and the small nose and mouth, which is also small. An elongated pattern of a circle can be seen on the forehead. The four narrow legs grow out of the body below.
On the outer sides there is an elongated circle pattern above. The tail is designed like the ears, i.e. long and pointed, but rounded at the sides. It is also decorated with a wide stripe. In its Shiny form, the yellow patterns are neon blue and the eyes have a golden yellow sclera.
Like in the previous games, Umbreon is obtained during the night when you manage to level up your Eevee with Max Friendship (earlier, it was Affection).
Why is my Eevee not evolving?
Well, if you’re worried why your Eevee won’t evolve into Umbreon or Espeon, the reason is probably your Friendship level. Namely, the day/night-time condition is easily met, and since there is no specific level at which Eevee evolves into Espeon and Umbreon, you might get a bit impatient. Your Friendship level has to be on the highest level, as we have said, and that is not always easy to acheve.
If you want to know your exact Friendship level with your Pokémon, go to Jubilife Village and talk to Belamy, but only after you’ve completed Request 28. Belamy will tell you your exact Friendship level for each individual Pokémon. On a more general side note, the Eeveelutions in Pokémon Legends: Arceus are all obtained in the same way as in previous generations of video games.
Vaporeon, Jolteon, and Flareon are obtained by using the Water, Thunder, and Fire Stones respectively. Glaceon and Leafeon can be evolved either using the Ice or Leaf Stone respectively, or by finding an Icey or Moss Stone. Umbreon, as we have said, is evolved during the night with Max Friendship, and Espeon, as we have also said, with meeting the same conditions, but during the day. Sylveon can be obtained with Max Friendship, while Eevee knows a Fairy-type move.
