How to Escape the House without being detected

Pretend to use the restroom. A good way to get out of the house is to go to the bathroom and use it as usual. Flush the toilet, turn on the faucet, and go in and out of the bathroom as if you were doing your own thing. Then you will sneak out.

• If someone hears something, they will hear the use of the toilet again and go back to sleep. It was a familiar sound. They will sleep soundly while you escape through the back door.
• However, do not overdo this step. If your mom or dad hears the toilet flush and you go in and out every 5 seconds, they’ll probably come to your room to check.

Step lightly and act as gently as possible. Take off your shoes and start sneaking out. In general, you should move very slowly within the house, especially when you have to go through your parents’ room, or have to deal with excitable pets.

• Do not turn on the light. If you make them suspicious then surrender. If you’ve made it to the kitchen before your dad suddenly shows up and asks what you’re doing, it’s probably best to give in and tell the truth. • Another way is to confess and accept being yelled at. “I’m going to see my friends for a while. I’m sorry. I promise I won’t do it again.”
• Avoid giving silly excuses like, “I don’t know what happened, I just know I woke up here!” Fuzzy excuses won’t get you anywhere. Your parents are not fools.

Think worst-case scenarios. What happens if you arrive at your appointment and no one is there? What if you have traveled many kilometers from home and need someone to pick you up after being abandoned? What happens if you are stopped by the police for going out during curfew? These aren’t things that scare you, but you need to plan what you’ll do in the event that happens, it’s better to be careful than sorry anyway. That way you can relax and have fun.

• Do you have a cousin you can call, or can you call your best friend’s parents? Think through the options and let them know this before implementing the plan. Let them know that you may need their help before this happens.

Remove evidence. If your parents are suspicious and want to check what you did last night, you have to make sure the evidence on your phone shows that you were asleep at the time. Delete messages, pictures and related information that may accuse you of escaping. Don’t text or tweet about the plan, don’t update your social media accounts saying “Just ran away from home last night!”.
