How to Enter Subscript

Open the Word document to be edited. You can open existing Word documents on your computer to edit old content, or open blank text to enter new content.

Highlight the content that you want to subscript. Use the mouse or keyboard to select the character or content to create subscript format.

Press Contrp + D (on Windows) or ⌘ Command + D (on Mac). The font properties window will appear after this operation.

Tick the box

“Subscript” in the Font window. After you tick that option, the highlighted content will become subscript.

Click the OK button. This will apply the new typeface setting, and convert the selected character or text to subscript.

Open the Google Doc to edit. You can edit the content in an existing Google Doc, or open a new document and enter the content.

Highlight the content for which you want to create subscript. You can use the mouse to highlight anything in the text.

Click the Format tab in the upper-left corner. This is the button on the tag line below the text name near the top left corner of the page.

Place the cursor at Text on the Format menu. This opens another menu with multiple text editing options.

Select Subscript on the Text menu. Thus, the highlighted text will be converted to subscript.

• On Mac , you can press ⌘ Command + , on your keyboard to convert text to subscript.
• On Windows , you will press Contrp + , to convert the text to subscript.

Open the text to be edited in TextEdit. You can open saved text in TextEdit or open new blank text to enter content.

Highlight the content that you want to subscript. You can use the mouse or keyboard to select the content to be converted to subscript.

Click the Format button on the menu bar. You can find this button on your Mac’s menu bar at the top of the screen.

Place the cursor at Font on the Format menu. This opens another menu with typography tools.

Place the cursor at Baseline on the Font menu. The screen will display an additional sub-menu with basic line selections.

Select Subscript in the Baseline menu. This will convert the selected content to subscript.

Download the app “Character Pad” from

App Store. You can search for apps by name on the App Store, and tap the blue GET button to install it on your iPhone or iPad.

• This is a free third-party application that allows you to copy and paste special characters into any text field.
• Or, you can copy and paste the subscript character from a website like https://nadnosliw.wordpress.com/unicode-characters.

Open the Character Pad app on your iPhone or iPad. The Character Pad app has a white sigma ” Σ ” icon on an orange background. You will see the app on the home screen.

Swipe the screen left twice to find the subscript character. The third page of the app has numbers in subscript format.

Tap the subscript character you want to enter. This will copy the character to the clipboard.

Open a text field to enter the subscript. You can paste the copied subscript anywhere, such as a message, note, or web page.

Touch and hold the text field. Your selections will show up in the black toolbar above the text field.

Tap Paste on the black toolbar. This will paste the copied subscript character into the selected text field.

Download “Engineering Keyboard” app from

Play Store. You need to search for the app on the Play Store and tap the green INSTALL button to download it.

• This is a free third-party keyboard app. You can access the app page at https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fef.engr.
• Or, you can find another keyboard app that allows subscript input on the Play Store.

Open the text field in which you want to enter the subscript. You can enter subscript in any message, note or text field using Engineering Keyboard.

Switch the keyboard to Engineering Keyboard. Depending on your Android device, you can use keyboard shortcuts, the quick settings menu, or the Settings app to switch keyboards.

Tap the n _nⁿ upper/lower indicator icon in the lower left corner. This is a button that looks like a white ” n ” on a red background with two other “n’s” placed in superscript and subscript format, and positioned next to the spacebar. This will show you a keyboard with superscript and subscript keys.
