Click Next two more times. On Windows, on the second page when you click Next , you can choose to prevent BitTorrent from starting automatically with the computer.

Click Decline on pages that suggest additional downloads. When you download BitTorrent, you will be asked to install additional programs (such as anti-virus software). Although downloading these programs is okay, you can click Decline if you don’t want to download.

Click Finish when BitTorrent has finished installing. Actions in the lower-right corner of the window. BitTorrent will open and you can proceed to download the torrent you want.

Identify healthy torrents. When downloading torrents, there are a few things to keep in mind:

Seeder – The number in the “SEED” (upload) column on the right side of the page should be higher than (or approximately equal to) the number in the “LEECH” (download) column.
File Details – Make sure the file name, category, and any other information in the header exactly match what you’re looking for.
Quality (video only) – Look for at least “720p” in the title (“1080p” is ideal). The smaller the parameter, the lower the quality.

Click the torrent you want to download. You still need to consider a few more things before downloading:

Comments – User feedback will tell you how safe torrenting is.
Review – You should look out for the yellow approve and red disapproval signs in the upper right of the torrent page. If the number below the disavow icon is large, the torrent may be corrupted or unsafe.

Click Download Torrent . Actions are below the torrent’s title near the top of the page. The file will start downloading.

Torrents only take a few seconds to download.

Double-click the torrent file. The file will open in BitTorrent. Right after that, the torrent will start downloading the actual file.

Wait for the file to download. After you open the torrent file on the client, the computer will start connecting to the seeder and downloading the file. Torrent downloads usually take a while to “prepare”, but once you’ve connected with decent seeders, you’ll find your download speeds maxed out.

Once the torrent finishes downloading, you’ll be able to find the file in the default “downloads” folder such as the desktop.
If you want to find a downloaded file, enter the filename into Spotlight (Mac) or Start (Windows) and then click the appropriate file.

Advice

Usually, you can be civil by “seeding” (uploading to help other users download) the torrent you’ve downloaded in the minimum amount of time it takes others to download its file. To seed a torrent, you just need to leave the torrent open in the client.
If BitTorrent is not compatible with your computer or KAT for some reason, you can download uTorrent (another version of BitTorrent) at http://www.utorrent.com/downloads/.
