How to Delete Comments on Facebook

We can delete comments and posts on Facebook using the mobile application or the website on the computer. You can delete your comments along with comments posted by other people on your posts, but you can’t delete comments that belong to other people’s posts. Alternatively, you can also delete your own or other people’s posts on your timeline.

Remove comments (on mobile app)

Open the Facebook app. You can delete any valid comments using the Facebook mobile app. You’ll need to make sure you’re signed into an account that can delete the comment.

Open the Activity Log. Activity Log keeps track of all the comments and posts you’ve posted. You can find specific comments quickly thanks to the Activity Log. To access the Activity Log:

On Android – Tap the Menu button (☰) in the upper-right corner, then scroll down to “Activity Log.”
On iOS – Tap the Menu button (☰) in the lower right corner, then tap “Settings”. Select “Activity Log” from the new menu.

Find the comment to delete on your post. The Activity Log will only show the comments you’ve posted. If you want to delete other people’s comments on your post, open that post.

You can delete comments you’ve posted on other people’s posts, as well as comments people leave on your own. We can’t delete other people’s comments on posts that aren’t ours.

Open the comment’s task list. In the Activity Log, click the “v” next to the comment you want to delete. If you’re deleting a comment right on the post (but not the Activity Log), long-press on the comment to open the task list. ^{[1] X Research Source}

Click “Delete” to delete the comment. You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the post’s comment. If the “Delete” option is not available, you are not allowed to delete the comment.

Delete posts (on mobile app)

Find the post you want to delete. You can delete posts that you have posted, or content that others have posted on your wall. You cannot delete posts that are out of your ownership.

Open the Activity Log to find posts quickly. You can find the posts you’ve created using the Activity Log, which records all of your activity on Facebook. However, if you want to remove something someone has posted on your wall, you’ll need to look on your timeline.

Tap the “v” next to the post you want to delete. The task list of the article will appear. You can only delete content you have posted, or others have posted on your wall.

Select “Delete” from the menu. You will be asked to confirm that you want to delete the post. If you don’t see the delete option, you don’t have permission to delete this content. Instead, you can hide posts that you can’t delete.

Delete comments (on desktop)

Log in to the Facebook website. You can delete all your comments using the Facebook website. Make sure you are logged into the correct account that is allowed to delete those comments.

Use the Activity Log to find your comments. You can find all your comments using the Activity Log.

Click the ▼ button at the top of the page, then select “Activity Log.” You can then browse for the comment you want to delete.
Or, maybe you can simply open the post containing the comment to be deleted.

Click the button to the right of the comment to be deleted. Click the “X” next to someone else’s comment, or the pencil-shaped button next to your own.

Select “Delete” from the menu that appears. This only happens with your own comments.

Confirm that you want to delete the comment. Once you confirm, the comment will be deleted and no one will be able to see it.

Find the post you want to delete. You can delete posts you’ve posted, or content left by others on your timeline. You can’t delete someone’s post on someone else’s wall.

You can use the Activity Log to find old posts quickly. Click the ▼-shaped button in the upper-right corner and select “Activity Log,” then scroll down to find the post.

Click the “v” shaped button next to the post you want to delete. A small menu with several options will appear.

If you’re in the Activity Log, click the pencil button.

Select “Delete” from the menu. Once you confirm, the post will be removed from Facebook entirely. Anyone who shared the post will not be able to review it. All comments and likes are also deleted.

Advice

If you accidentally hide someone’s comment or change your mind, you can restore it by clicking “Unhide”. This button appears where the hidden comment was previously displayed.

Whether you delete or hide a comment, someone probably saw it in time. Use caution when commenting on Facebook or any other social network to avoid making an unwanted impression online.
