How to Create a Gmail Account

Get the Gmail app. If you haven’t downloaded the Gmail app, open

iPhone’s App Store or

Android’s Google Play Store , and then do the following:

• On iPhone – select Search , tap the search bar at the top of the screen, type gmail , select gmail from the list that pops up, select GET to the right of the “Gmail – Email by Google” app and enter your Apple ID or Touch ID password.
• On Android – Tap the search bar at the top of the screen, type gmail , select Gmail from the drop-down list, select INSTALL and finally ACCEPT .
• Skip this step if you already have the Gmail app installed on your phone.

Open Gmail. Select OPEN in your phone’s app store, or tap the red and white Gmail app icon. This will open an empty login page if you haven’t logged into any accounts on your phone.

• If a Gmail account is already signed in on your phone, you’ll select in the upper-left corner of the screen, tap your current email address, select Manage accounts , select Add account ), select Google and skip the next two steps.

Select SIGN IN below the screen.

• If you’re signed in to another account, select ☰ in the upper left corner and then tap the account’s profile picture. Next, select ＋ Add account and select Google at the top.

Select More options on the left side of the screen to display a menu.

• If you have an unsigned account on your phone, you must first select Use another account on this page.

Select Create account . It is the only option on the currently displayed page.

• If you’ve signed in to your Gmail account before, this option will be in the middle of the page and no longer appear in the menu.

Enter your first and last name. Select the “First name” field and enter your first name, then enter your last name in the “Last name” field.

Select NEXT . It’s the blue button on the right side of the page.

Enter your date of birth and gender. Select the month of birth, then enter your date and year of birth, and then select your gender from the drop-down list of the Gender field.

Select NEXT .

Create username. Enter the name you want for your Gmail account in the “Username” field – this will appear before the “@gmail.com” section of your email address.

• You must choose a username that no one has used yet. If the username is the same, you will be asked to choose a different name.

Select NEXT .

Create a password. Enter the password in the “Create password” field, then re-enter the password in the “Confirm password” field.

Select NEXT .

Enter your phone number. Enter your phone number in the “Phone number” field. It should be a phone number where you can receive messages.

• A Skip option may appear on the left side of the page. If you see it, you can choose to skip the phone number entry step.

Confirm phone number. Select VERIFY when asked, then you open the message sent from Google, see the 6-digit code mentioned in the message, enter it in the “Enter code” field, and select NEXT .

• Skip this step if you selected Skip in the previous step.

Scroll down and select I AGREE in the bottom right corner of the screen.
