If you’ve been wishing you could change your look, don’t worry – you’re not alone. Many people feel the same way as you, especially young girls. Maybe you’re already beautiful, but you just don’t realize it. Learn to be more comfortable with yourself and change your appearance to better suit who you are on the inside, and you’ll feel like a completely different person – and so beautiful!
Steps
Change your hair
- Ask yourself, what do you want your hair to say about yourself? Are you an extrovert and love adventure? Maybe you want to have short hair with vibrant colors. Are you realistic and a bit hippie? A long, staggered, multi-layered haircut with natural tones is probably quite suitable for you.
- Search the internet or scroll through a few hair industry magazines for notable hairstyles. (You can buy hair industry magazines at bookstores or supermarkets.)
- An oval face is a well-balanced face and looks like an oval (slightly wider in the middle).
- The square face is about the same width as the eyebrows, cheekbones down to the jaw.
- The triangular face has a wider lower face and a sharp jawline.
- The heart face (inverted triangle face) has a slimmer chin and wider cheekbones.
- A round face is an almost full round face.
- A rhombus face is an angular face with cheekbones that are wider than the level of the eyebrows and jaw.
- The long face is roughly the same width from the forehead down to the jaw, making the face appear longer.
- Oval faces go well with almost any hairstyle, although long hair can make an oval face look longer.
- Square faces merge with hairstyles that are longer than the jawline. In particular, you should avoid hairstyles that reach your chin, as it will make a square face look even more square. In addition, you should also avoid straight and angular cuts like bangs or bobs. Slanted bangs, wavy bangs, and staggered hair that wrap around the face are good options.
- The triangle face is suitable for short hairstyles because it helps to balance the wide jawline by increasing the width of the head. If you prefer a longer hairstyle, remember that the hair must be longer than the chin, otherwise the lower part of the face will look very large.
- The heart-shaped face looks lovely with the chin-length staggered hair (the bob looks good too!). Avoid hairstyles with thick bangs, as it will make the upper part of the face look heavy. High ponytails and swept back hairstyles can accentuate a pointed chin, so you should also avoid it.
- Round faces look pretty with side-swept bangs and staggered cuts, as it helps to balance out the width of the face. Chin-length hairstyles and flat bangs will make the face appear wider, and so will the middle parted hair. On the contrary, the side parted hair and slanted bangs look so cute!
- A diamond-shaped face suits hair that is thick on the sides but not thick on the top. In other words, avoid the high cut! The bangs and staggered hair surrounding the face look good. Remember to avoid having thick hair in the middle of your head.
- An elongated face requires you to cut the length of the face. Avoid hairstyles that are too long. Bob hairstyles, staggered hair and flat bangs will suit an elongated face.
- Your skin tone and eye color can work with most hair colors, but they may not suit all shades of color. For example, warm skin tones will go well with reds with warm shades like strawberry, but pink or blue skin tones will work with reds with cooler, lighter shades.
- Hair color that is close to the tone of your skin and eyes will give you a more natural look. For example, think of a beach look with sandy hair, tanned skin, and blue eyes.
- The more pronounced the contrast between skin tone and eye color, the more you will stand out. For example, fair skin and green eyes with vibrant auburn hair would be a very impressive combination.
- If you’re not sure what your skin tone is, you can answer a few multiple-choice questions online to find out which hair color is right for you. [3] X Research Sources
- If you have dry and damaged hair, you should intensively condition your hair every week. An easy home remedy is to mix olive oil with 2 egg yolks, an avocado, mayonnaise and conditioner. Apply the mixture to your hair and leave it on for a few hours (even overnight). [4] X Research Sources
- If your hair has dandruff or other problems, you should avoid using homemade products. Instead, you need to use specialized products. If you have a serious problem, see a general practitioner or a dermatologist. [5] X Research Sources
Well-dressed
- Look through your wardrobe to see which colors, styles, and patterns dominate. You like them for a reason – they can help you define your own style.
- For example, if you’re an extrovert and enjoy genres like punk, you might get inspiration from retro punk photos, but if you’re more natural and a bit hippie, you’ll find inspiration in the pictures. Old photos of people in the 60s and 70s.
- Choosing clothes that match your personality means that you should feel comfortable and confident wearing that outfit without feeling like you’re playing the part of someone else.
- Use a tape measure to measure your shoulder, bust, waist and hip circumference. Maybe you need someone to measure for you.
- Inverted Triangle: You have an inverted triangle body shape if your shoulders and chest are wider than your hips. Shoulder and bust measurements should be at least 5% wider than hips. [7] X Research Sources
- Rectangular Body: You have a rectangular body shape if your shoulders, bust, and hips are roughly the same, and your waistline isn’t defined. Shoulder, bust and hip measurements do not differ by more than 5%, and waist circumference is not less than 25% or more than shoulder or bust. [8] X Research Sources
- Triangle Body: You have a triangular body shape if your hips are wider than your shoulders. Hip measurement should be at least 5% wider than shoulder or bust. [9] X Research Source
- Hourglass Shape: You have an hourglass figure if your shoulders and hips are roughly equal and you have a defined waist. Shoulder and hip measurements do not differ by more than 5%, and waist circumference is at least 25% smaller than shoulders, hips, and bust. [10] X Research Source
- Inverted triangle shape: The upper half should be simple and airy, without cumbersome details that make the upper part look even more massive. Choose clothes and accessories that are large for the lower half to increase the size and balance with the upper half. For example, you could wear a simple V-neck top, a big belt at the waist, and high-waisted wide-leg pants underneath. [11] X Research Source
- Rectangular: For a rectangular body shape, your goal is to accentuate the waistline to give the illusion of an hourglass figure. Wear pants or skirts with cropped or embellished trims that create soft curves, with a fitted top at the top to help shape your waist. Avoid clothes that are boxy or draw attention to the waist. [12] X Research Source
- Triangle (pear shape): The goal here is to balance out the larger bottom half (hips and legs) with clothing and accessories that help increase the size of the upper half and make the shoulders appear wider. Wear simple pants or skirts with neat cuts and no frills so the bottom doesn’t appear larger. [13] X Research Source
- Hourglass Shape: Wear clothing that hugs your body. Body-hugging suits are often a good choice because they help accentuate natural curves. Avoid loose clothes that hide your slim waist, and they will make you look fuller. [14] X Research Source
- If you have long legs, you can wear tight pants with a long shirt, or low-waist skirts to make your body look more balanced.
- If you have shorter legs, you should wear skirts and pants with high waistbands and short tops or tuck them under pants to make your legs look longer.
- To get an idea of what styles will help you look your best, review your wardrobe and try on some of your favorite pieces; Notice how they fit. Then, try on a few things you don’t really like – notice how it’s different and use that as a consideration when shopping for new clothes next time.
- If you really like an outfit, take a photo to save its style.
Make up
- You can use cosmetics for smoother, more even-looking skin (foundation and concealer); longer lashes (mascara); higher cheekbones (blush, highlighter); and fuller lips (lipliner and lipstick).
- For example, you may need to use a lot of cosmetics to get the dewy skin that is so popular.
- If you’re not used to makeup but still want your skin to look better, try a tinted moisturizer or powder. These products help you achieve better-looking skin without feeling heavy or greasy.
- For blue eyes, you should use gentle natural tones like coral or champagne. Dark and smoky eyes can overwhelm your eye color, so try it out at home before you hit the road.
- Gray and gray-blue eyes look great with black or smoky eyeshadows with shades of gray, blue, and silver.
- Green eyes will become attractive with deep purple and glossy brown shades.
- Light hazel eyes go well with metallics and pastel shades because it gives the eyes a shimmer. Ash pink, bronze and metallic gold go well with hazel eyes.
- Brown eyes go well with most eye colors and styles. Neutral salmon and gold tones look great with brown eyes. When applying smokey eye makeup, you can draw a little black powder on the eyelids.
- A popular eye makeup look is to apply smoky eyes with 2 or 3 shades of color on the eyelids to create a lighter shade, usually lighter eyeshadow from the eyelid towards the eyebrow.
- If you have applied red lipstick, the rest of the face should only wear light makeup. The classic style is to draw cat eyes and apply red lipstick.
- The same principle of balance applies to hair color and makeup. For example, vibrant red hair can limit the lipstick colors you can choose from.
- It will take some time to practice the contouring technique, but if you are really lacking in confidence about the natural contours of your face, this is well worth a try.
- To avoid breakouts, you should choose cosmetics that do not clog pores. These products will say “non-comedogenic” on the packaging. Even when using these cosmetics, you can still get pimples.
- If you have heavy eye makeup, you may need to use an eye makeup remover or coconut oil to make sure your eyes are thoroughly washed each night.
Advice
- Be patient, especially when you’re trying to lose weight through lifestyle adjustments like diet and exercise. It may take a month or so to see the effects of a healthy lifestyle, but you will see (and feel) the results!
- A great way to start learning about the hair and outfit styles that work for you is to look to famous stars for inspiration, as they are often groomed by professional stylists. However, remember to make some adjustments to suit you.
- If you’re concerned about the risks of hair dye, consider lightening or darkening your hair the natural way, or dyeing your hair with henna. With the exception of henna, natural methods will only change hair color to a few shades, so don’t expect dramatic results.
- If you’re not sure how to apply makeup, consider signing up for a makeover at the cosmetics store. These places they usually do for free, but in return you may have to buy something.
Take care of yourself
- A 150-pound woman (about 68 kg) needs to drink 75 to 150 ounces (2.2 liters to 4.4 liters) of water per day, depending on the climate and activity level. People who are active and live in hot climates will need to drink up to 4.4 liters of water per day. [16] X Research Source

- Vitamins and minerals: These nutrients are found in supplements that you can take if you know well and when your diet is not providing the nutrients you need.
- If you get a headache or unwell after eating or drinking something, make a note of it so you can avoid it next time, especially if you often feel uncomfortable after eating it.
- Pay attention to the foods and drinks that make you feel good. A healthy diet with plenty of water and nutrients will help you feel healthier and happier. When you are healthier and happier, you will also be more beautiful.
- The most effective exercises when you don’t have a lot of time are those that use multiple muscle groups. Swimming, dancing, even strenuous cleaning are activities that require multiple muscle groups.
- Two 20-minute brisk walks a day are also an effective way to stay healthy and in shape.
- Yoga is a stress-relieving exercise that also builds and tones muscles. Make sure to combine yoga with cardio activities like walking, jogging, or swimming. [19] X Research Source

- To keep your teeth healthy and strong, you should remember to visit the dentist every 6 months.
- Good hygiene will help you stay clean and attractive every day. Every day you should try to take care of yourself, even on bad days.
- Journal even when you have nothing to say. You can even start by writing that you don’t know what to say and see where the log line takes you. Usually something pops into your head – maybe something you didn’t expect.
- There are different types of meditation. [22] X Research Source A common type of meditation is to sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes, and clear your mind of all thoughts.
- If a thought creeps into your mind during meditation, imagine it dissolving, or name the thought and push it out of your mind. The goal here is to focus on the present moment and not be distracted by thoughts.
- When starting out, you don’t have to meditate for long. Initially, 1-2 minutes is enough. Ideally, you should meditate for 10-15 minutes every day. If not, do what you can!
- Cultivating the habit of positive thinking can be difficult, so you need to be patient with yourself as you learn to look at negative thoughts and counter them with positive thoughts.
- One tip for feeling more positive is to stand with posture: stand up straight, push your chest up and raise your chin, then stretch your arms as wide as you can. Feel the strength and positivity in the moment, and these feelings will last. [24] X Research Source
- When you feel sad, try smiling for up to 30 seconds to encourage yourself.
- One way to boost your confidence is to make a list of your strengths, your accomplishments, and what you like about yourself. This task can be really difficult at first. You may find only one item on each list, even taking a few hours to come up with, but the list will continue to grow as you become more confident. [27] X Research Source
- Resist negative monologues. This is related to a positive attitude. Recognize times when you think negatively about yourself and counter those thoughts with positive thoughts. For example, when you catch yourself thinking, “I’m too fat” or “I’m ugly,” counter it with thoughts like “I have a nice butt” or “I have pretty eyes.” [28] X Research Sources
- Adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per night, and teenagers need 8.5-9.5 hours. [29] X Research Sources
Warning
- Be aware that there are dangerous risks associated with hair dye, as the dye contains chemicals that can cause allergic reactions, and possibly even death. For this reason, you must do a skin test 48 hours before dyeing your hair.
