Add the numbers together to find their sum. You can use a calculator or excel sheet, or do mental math if it’s simple.

Count the number of digits in your set. If any number repeats, you still have to count that number to determine the total.

Divide the sum by the number of digits. The main result is the average of the set of numbers you have. That means that if each number in your set is equal to the mean, their sum will be equal to the sum of the whole series.

Example: 20:5 = 4
So 4 is the average of the numbers.

Other types of averages include “mode” and “median”. Mode is the value that occurs most often in the set. Median is the middle value in a set of elements. These averages will often produce different results than the mean for the same set of numbers.
