How to Block Messages from Facebook

This wikiHow teaches you how to stop Facebook from sending text message notifications to your cell phone, even if you’re not using Facebook. If the Facebook Messenger app is receiving unwanted messages, you can block those messages on Messenger.

Open the messaging (SMS) application. You can send a text message to a special Facebook number to stop receiving messages from Facebook, even if you’re not using Facebook.

Start a new message sent to the Facebook SMS number. This number will vary depending on your current country. You can check the number for a specific country and carrier at the Facebook Help support page. Here are a few of the most common examples:

Compose the Stop message.

Send Message. You’ll probably be notified that the message will charge the same as regular text messaging. You don’t need to worry too much.

Wait for the response message. You will receive a reply from another number saying that text messaging from Facebook has been turned off. You will no longer receive any text messages from Facebook to the mobile number.

Click the Get text notifications box to uncheck it. Text messages will stop being sent to the linked phone number.

Click the Off radio button.

Click Save Changes . New notifications will no longer be sent to your phone number.

Delete the phone number completely if the message continues to arrive. If you’re still receiving text messages from Facebook, you can remove the phone number completely by:

Log into Facebook and open the Settings menu.
Click the Mobile tab.
Click Remove next to the phone number.
Click Remove Phone to confirm.
