Meaning if the player has stumbled across Arlo but needs to battle Cliff, just ignore this battle until Cliff makes an appearance. This will be a classic 3v3 Pokemon battle. The thing that makes these challenges much harder than normal grunts is that the Team Rocket Leaders actually use the barriers available to them. For starters, Cliff will always start his battles with an Omanyte. Going for a Pokemon from Grass-type moves like Roserade, Venusaur, and Ludicolo would be best. Then, the second and third Pokemon in this party will be completely random. To prepare for this, just lose and challenge him to a rematch with the correct counters. • Tyranitar: Use Fighting-type moves.
• Swampert: Use Grass-type moves.
