No matter where you live in the world, you are always a part of society. As a member of society, everyone has a responsibility to help others and improve conditions. community and the environment in which we live. You can do this on both a small and large scale. Take care of the people around you and try to find ways to help when they need it. You can also do things that benefit society in the long run, such as investing in education, supporting charities, donating blood and protecting the environment.
Steps
Helping people around

- For example, you might help an old man cross a busy road.
- Give a homeless person a few tens of thousands of dong. Better yet, you can invite them to a meal and chat with them.
- If you see someone struggling to open a heavy door or agonizingly carrying a box, go help them.

- For example, if you have a co-worker who recently lost a loved one, express concern by saying something like, “My condolences to you. If you need any help, just tell me.”
- If a classmate is having a hard time at school, you can encourage him or her, such as, “This semester has been so hard. Do you want to talk to me about some subjects? Let’s go get some coffee!”

- For example, you can tutor a young child in your area through the Big Brothers or Big Sisters program. Many social or religious organizations also support such orientation programs.

- Do charity at a shelter or homeless kitchen.
- Volunteer at a Red Cross or religious organization.
- Contribute to the construction of houses of love in the local community.
- Volunteer work in hospitals.

- You can go online to find a suitable place to donate blood by entering phrases like “where to donate blood”.
Contribution to civil society

- For example, you can research and vote on local issues that often go unnoticed such as taxes, city management, and local regulations.

- If you already have a career, look for ways to help the community through the agency you work for, such as volunteering or community outreach opportunities. [4] X Research Source Rosenberg, Amber. Personal interview. 26 February 2020.

- If you can’t afford to pay your taxes, talk to an accountant to see if they have any suggestions for deferring taxes.
Contribute to community improvement

- You can contribute other things than just money. Many charities also donate things like vehicles or clothing.

- For example, if you see someone messing around with a stalled car, show them how to start the car.
- Or, teach the neighborhood kids useful survival skills. Teach the kids how to pitch a tent, light a fire, or sharpen knives.
- If you’re a mechanic — or just someone who’s good at fixing things — you can show a few neighbors how to change wheels, fix bicycles, or simple machines.

- For example, you could study horticulture or agriculture in college or university. After graduation, you can return to the hometown where you were born and raised to help the people there develop farming.
- Or, you could study for a bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology, then open a counseling office for people struggling with negative thoughts or mental health problems.

- Sharing expertise is an effective way to use your advanced education for the benefit of society.
Environmental protection

- For example, if your clothes are worn out, you can repair them instead of throwing them away. You can also donate your old clothes to charities.
- Avoid buying products with non-biodegradable materials, such as foam.

- When you reduce carbon emissions and protect the environment, you also help preserve the health of people in the community.

- If you’d like to plant a tree in a public park (or in an area owned by the city), you’ll need to contact the city government and fill out the necessary paperwork.
- If you’re more careful, you can also find out which plants are native to the area.

- If you’re interested in buying solar batteries, go to large stores that sell home appliances. You can also find contractors in your area to hire them to install.
