Extraversion is a natural and healthy personality trait. However, extroverts can be further refined by practicing contemplation. If you’re an extrovert, you probably don’t know how a rich inner life can benefit you and your loved ones. In fact, you can learn to enjoy solitude and social connections to foster self-worth.
Steps
Definition of introverted personality
- In fact, most people include both extroverted and introverted traits in their personality, but tend to lean more towards one side.
- For example, if we want to lead a quiet life and realize our introverted nature, then taking new risks and going on adventures that include interacting with different groups of people can make enrich our lives in a different and more interesting way.
- As with extroverts, if we’re “party-goers,” we can still enjoy the benefits of taking time off to reflect, go for a walk, or commit to reading for 15 minutes a day.
Practice introspection
- What did I feel? Why?
- What did I learn today? Who did I learn from?
- What ideas came to mind? Who am I thinking about today?
- How is today different from yesterday? Compared to last week? Last year?
- What am I grateful for? Who in their world seems lonely? Why?
- When you are alone, what do you notice? What impression does the world around you make? Creativity can be seen as ‘self-centered’, but still paying attention to the outside world.
- Write a fantasy short story
- Artistic creation – painting, sculpture, sketching, etc.
- Use art magazines
- Compose music
- Wrote poetry
- Read books
- Knitting
- Program
- Listen to music alone
- Play musical instruments
- Go for a walk or hike alone
- Practicing mindfulness and meditation also benefits us. Contemplating the mysteries of science (cosmology, quantum theory) also fosters a powerful inner experience.
- Remember that introversion is not a mountain waiting for others to climb. In fact, most introverts use ‘alone time’ to recharge. Alone time can be an effective way to replenish energy after you’ve put too much effort into a social relationship or someone with an extroverted personality.
Advice
- As an extrovert, making the determination to spend some quiet time alone will add richness and depth to your life.
- Always be yourself. Introverts and extroverts should admire and complement each other and should not envy each other. As long as we always treat each other well, in this world there are always many opportunities for both of us to shine.
- If you’re a born extrovert, don’t try to make yourself an introvert because you think it’s cool – it’s just a silly idea. The important thing is that you need to be true to yourself instead of being fake. However, you can take a break from socializing at any time for self-reflection.
