Apologizing is a way for you to show remorse for doing something wrong and improve the relationship after doing it. Being too general makes problem-solving out of reach; you can’t change a “bad guy” as easily as you can change someone “who doesn’t care about other people’s needs”.

- To redirect negative conversation, try to focus on specific behaviors the other person wants you to do instead of what you actually do. - Remember, just because someone accepts your apology doesn’t mean they have completely forgiven you. It will take time, possibly a long time, before the other person can completely ignore and trust you again. There’s almost nothing you can do to speed up this process, but there are plenty of ways you can make it sink. If the other person is really important to you, give them the time and space they need to heal. Don’t expect them to return to normal behavior right away.
