Who Was Emma Goldman?

Emma Goldman was born on June 27, 1869, in Lithuania. She immigrated to the United States in 1885, where she worked in clothing factories. It was in that setting that she came in contact with anarchist beliefs. A fiery speaker, she was jailed for inciting riots and advocating birth control. She was deported to the Soviet Union in 1919, spending the rest of her life traveling, speaking and writing.
