Tongs for lifting crucible seem a little precarious for lifting hot crucible

FOR GAS CRUCIBLE :

I tried to melt copper and some silver..full propane tank and an hour later and no luck. I need to know if there is something I am doing wrong….the air intake screw was totally open and things didn’t really seem to change much if I ran it close.

Update: My husband modified it and welded it to, it can be ignited and operated normally.I ended up with some highly oxidized black charcoal looking silver and what looked like burnt and oxidized copper.
