Blue Period (ブルーピリオド Burū Piriodo?) is an anime television series adaptation based off of Tsubasa Yamaguchi’s manga of the same name. The manga is licensed in English by Kodansha and can be read here. The series premiered on October 1, 2021 on TBS in Japan, which was followed by its Netflix debut on October 9 with weekly new episodes. An English dub was released on January 28, 2022.

Synopsis[]

Yatora Yaguchi is a second-year high school student with excellent grades and many friends, an ideal pupil who plays his part almost to perfection. Everyone around him thinks “wow, he must be so satisfied with life!”, but Yatora has always felt empty, like something’s missing. But one day he wanders into the art room, and is captivated by a piece he sees on display there. Inspired, Yatora dives into the world of art, able for the first time to express his true feelings through what he creates, eyes finally open to the true beauty of the craft. He picks up his sketchbook with impulse. And Yatora finally finds the path he wishes to take. With an acceptance ratio of 20:1… 650 days left until the Geidai entrance exam![2]
