Alec Cabacungan was born to Gill, father, and Alma, mother on May 8, 2002, in Chicago, United States of America. Alec is the fourth child and the only son among the four children of his parents. His older sisters are Juliana, Isabella, and Kirsten.
When Alec Cabacungan was born, his parents realized there was something unusual about so they took him to the hospital when he was two months old.
After several medical examinations, the doctors found out that Alec has osteogenesis imperfecta, often known as OI, a genetic bone ailment that causes the bones to break frequently and readily. OI is also known as brittle bone disease.
Since then Alec became a part of the Shriners family. Over the course of his lifetime, he’s had numerous surgery and broken over 60 bones.

His most recent surgery was performed in December 2021 after his wheelchair overturned as he was navigating a snow-covered sidewalk, leaving him with shattered bones in his left shoulder, right knee, and left hip.
When Alec Cabacungan was 12 years, someone from the administration of Shriners invited him and his family to take part in a commercial fundraising drive for the hospital.
“Shriners has helped me in every facet of my life, so my family and I decided that we would participate if it would benefit the hospital and the children.” Alec Cabacungan stated.
Alec then agreed to appear in advertisements. Along with the advertisements, Cabacungan and his parents, Alma and Gill, represent the Shriners by touring the nation. He has gone to NBA, NFL, and college games across the nation to promote OI and Shriners.
Even though Alec is differently disabled, he never joked about his education. He started his education at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School. After graduating, he went to Oak Park River Forest High School.

Following his graduation from high school furthered to Northwestern University, where he is currently studying to become a sports broadcaster.
