A trio of world class athletes, known as Latitude 35, aim to set a new world record in Namibia
The Namib desert has never been crossed on foot, unaided. Yet a team of ambitious adventurers is gearing up to complete this monumental challenge in 15 days or less.
These men form a trio of world class athletes, known as Latitude 35, and are striving for their ninth combined world record.
Follow them on their journey – exclusively sponsored by Booking.com – as they make human history attempting to cross the Namib Desert.

What does the challenge involve?
- Crossing over 380 miles of rough and varied desert landscape.
- Hiking, jogging and running over a marathon each day, for 15 days straight.
- With no available drinkable water, Latitude must dig for water.
- Obtaining permits for restricted areas.
- Braving blinding sandstorms, venomous snakes and scorpions.
- Pulling a sled through the sand dunes, and semi-technical climbing up rocky cliffs.
- Enduring searing temperatures during the day and freezing temperatures at night.
- Being on the move for 16-18 hours per day (rest hours include pumping water, repairing kit, sleeping, eating and adjusting the route).
- Encountering no civilizations throughout the entire crossing.
- This adventure has never been done before, so there are no best practices established yet.
Experience Namibia for yourself
Obviously there aren’t any accommodations along the route of the trek and we certainly wouldn’t recommend you attempt it yourselves. But you can stay in the accommodations at the beginning and end of the expedition, and use them as a base to take a guided tour of the Diamond Coast’s rocky cliffs and skyscraper-esque sand dunes.
