Markets. 1/11/2019 The IRS announced on Monday evening that it is prepared to start processing 2018 tax returns on Jan. 28 and that it will pay tax refunds despite the partial shutdown of the federal government. The agency has been operating under a contingency plan that has furloughed 88% of the IRS’s workforce. It says it will recall “a significant portion” of its furloughed staff for tax season. The agency also says it will issue an updated contingency plan in the next few days. The Oceanside City Council is seeking applicants to fill the vacant City Clerk position. The person appointed will hold office until the expiration of the term (December 2020). Applications may be found on the City of Oceanside website and are due to the City Clerk’s Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on January 23, 2019. The design phase is now underway for four new buildings and a new parking lot at the MiraCosta Community College District’s Oceanside campus. The projects, funded by Measure MM, the $455 million bond measure approved by district voters in November 2016, will be aligned with the vision set out by the district’s Facility Master Plan, which calls for the creation of academic hubs throughout the campus centered around different academic themes and each including instructional space, tutoring and study space, faculty space, and outdoor learning and gathering spaces. NCTD is one of only four agencies across the country that has completed PTC implementation by the federally-mandated deadline of December 31, 2018.
