Oceanid
This Genshin Impact guide is here to help you with the World Boss, Oceanid. We’re here to provide tips and tricks about Oceanid’s moveset and what things to keep an eye on. Oceanid is located near the Stone Gate which serves as the main road that connects Mondstadt and Liyue.
Oceanid is one of the more unique bosses in Genshin Impact right now. Rather than having other elemental variants like the Hypostasis and Regisvine lines, this freaky fish creation shares no similarities with the rest. In fact, it’s barely a boss fight at all – more of a gauntlet or test against various Hydro-attuned mobs. Familiarize yourself with the micro-fights within and you’ll know how to beat it in no time.

Oceanid Location
The Oceanid is placed in one of the most gorgeous battlefields in the whole game. It’s recommended you come across it on your own accord for that true feeling of discovery and wonder, but if you’re after its materials and can’t seem to track it, just hug the walls to the right when you enter Liyue from the Dawn Winery and you should happen upon on it.
How to Defeat Oceanid
As mentioned above, Oceanid is less of a direct boss fight and more of a gauntlet-style run. It absolutely has a body of its own, but you’ll never deal damage directly to it. Instead, it shapes the water to form Hydro versions of other creatures; like frogs, boars, and birds. After quelling a wave, the Oceanid itself takes damage. Clear enough waves and you’ll have your kill.
Cryo and Electro come recommended here. As the battlefield is one big puddle, both elements can work against you, too. Having a shielder/healer also works, characters like Zhongli, Qiqi, and Noelle can get the job done.
There’s unavoidable damage with some waves, so healing will be beneficial for sure, and as the fight progresses, the arena begins to shrink – though it never is much of a problem. Annoyingly, the waves aren’t in any set order. You can’t plan ahead for subsequent fights knowing exactly what you’ll face and when. Instead, it’s best to just familiarize yourself with each mob’s attack style so you know which to deal with first when multiple come at once.
Ducks
Ducks arrive with a swirl of water constantly washing the ground around them, making Electro attacks likely even more counter-productive. That being said, Electro-Charged damage is a slow tick, so you should have no problem dealing more damage through Elemental attacks than the status effect will cause in the long term. Cryo can keep the ducks in place, making Geo or Claymores a good way to finish them off, too.
Crabs
Usually found in pairs, crabs can be tricky to deal with. They’ll circle you quickly, hitting you with a barrage of bubbles as they go. Interruption chances are high here, and with how fast they move, getting a proper attack in can be hard. Freeze them in place if possible.
Boars
Like the meat sacks out in the wild, Boars do nothing but charge into you after a second or two of scraping the ground beneath them. Just deal as much damage as you can before and after they rush forward. Tidecaller from Beidou is great here.
Frogs
These things don’t move too much, but when they do, it’s typically for a hard-hitting slam-type attack. If they stand on their back legs, get out of their face. They’ll slam down hard for some forward-firing Hydro damage.
The only other thing they’ll do is launch themselves like a Slime, crashing down on the target location a few seconds later for AoE damage. Kill these and they’ll form into bubbles that eventually explode for wide-reaching area damage.
Birds
Unlike the ducks, these feathered friends actually fly – and they’re a pain for a melee-heavy team to deal with. Usually in packs of three, birds constantly dive like angry seagulls, interrupting whatever you attempt to do. And they’re never in unison, so expect to dodge a lot. Time a dive well with someone like Kaeya’s Elemental Skill (or use his Burst) to freeze a bird in place. Otherwise, just hope you brought a ranged user like Lisa or Fischl.
