Ceramic hobs not only give kitchens a more modern and sleek feel, but they double up as counters and worktops in smaller kitchens. A dirty ceramic stovetop is not only unsightly for the kitchen and your home in general, but it could become a health hazard for everyone living in the house. While an all-purpose cleaner is perfect for cleaning fresh spills and stains from the hob, failing to do it regularly and on time can tarnish the smooth and shiny surface.

Start by sprinkling baking soda on the hob, making sure the whole surface is completely covered.
To make this step a bit easier, you can use a container with small holes punched through, as this will also aid in ensuring even distribution.
You can also use an icing sugar shaker for this step, if you don’t have a spare container.

The vinegar quantity should be just enough to get the baking soda bubbling up.
The bubbling will start working on dirt and stains on the hob, making it infinitely easier to clean up even the toughest of stains.
Next, soak a dishcloth in warm soapy water for just a few minutes.
Be sure to use one big enough to cover the entire surface of the hop, and wring out any excess water.

Next, lay the damp towel or cloth over the bubbling baking soda and white vinegar mix and wait about 15 minutes.

Use the damp towel to wipe off the baking soda from the cooktop.
You’re advised to go in circular motions when wiping the contents away.

Once this is done, you can then allow it to air-dry or use a microfibre cloth to remove any leftover water.
Burn marks will need a different approach, as they are more ingrained into the surface.
To remove burn marks, you’ll also need the help of a silicone spatula to help scrape off the bulk of the stain.
Once done scraping, you can then follow the steps above with baking soda and vinegar, smearing over the burned area with a sponge.
Cover the paste with a damp cloth for about half an hour or 45 minutes, then wipe away to remove the burn mark.
