New Pokédex registry Milotic for Jirachi quest
Around mid August Niantic released the A Thousand-Year Slumber Special Research Quest. It’s the quest line that unlocks the Mythical Pokémon Jirachi, from generation 3. Just like we’ve had the quest for Mew in the previous year and the one for Celebi last year.
This Quest was already available for people at the Pokémon GO Fests across the world this summer as an early unlock. They can do the quest again now too, but will not receive Jirachi a 2nd time, they will instead receive additional Jirachi Candy.
One part of the quest required you to evolve a Feebas into Milotic. Which has a requirement of walking 20 km with is as a Buddy and 100 Feebas Candy to evolve. I already had a Feebas with which I walked 20 km last year that I kept, so I could use it to evolve during the quest. I was never certain it would be a requirement, but I knew how Magikarp was required to be evolved into Gyarados for 400 Candy during the quest for Mew. So I figured that there was a high chance one, or all three, of Wailmer, Swablu and Feebas would have to be evolved once the quest for Jirachi would be released.
I kept on forgetting to evolve this Feebas though when I reached that part of the quest. Whenever I was playing I would always think I’ll evolve it peacefully when I’m back home, but then I’d end up not doing that or forgetting about it, time and time again. Today I finally evolved it!
Here is the Feebas I already had since last year, and its evolution process into becoming a beautiful Milotic and registering it into my Pokédex.
Now I finally have Milotic in my Pokédex and I can move on to the next part in the A Thousand-Year Slumber quest line!
In case you wonder why Feebas requires 20 km distance walked as a Buddy:
When it was first released in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, it was required to make PokéBlocks from berries to max out Feebas’ beauty stat and then level it up in order to evolve into Milotic. In later games without PokéBlocks, it’s required to make Feebas hold a Prism Scale and trade it in order to evolve it. Because they can’t just add PokéBlocks into the game just for Feebas to evolve, Niantic has decided that Feebas requires distance walked as a Buddy so that you bond together, before it can evolve into Milotic.
How are you advancing with the A Thousand-Year Slumber Quest?
