It’s been looking like Jennifer Lopez has finally found the man of her dreams in Alex Rodriguez. The entertainment diva and former MLB player announced over the weekend that they had become engaged by sharing Instagram photos of the very big diamond ring he had given her while on a recent tropical vacation.
Maybe the fifth time, engagement-ring-wise, is going to be the charm for Lopez, who has previously been engaged four times, including to Ben Affleck, and married three times, including to Marc Anthony.
But wait!
Lopez, 49, and Rodriguez, 43, couldn’t even enjoy a full weekend of glowing P.R. about their over-the-top romance and her latest extravagant engagement ring (valued at up to $4.5 million) before once again facing headlines that he is not the most faithful of matrimonial prospects.
Rodriguez’s longtime baseball enemy Jose Canseco took to Twitter on Sunday night to publicly accuse his fellow former New York Yankee of cheating on Lopez with his second ex-wife, Jessica.
“Watching J.Lo text Alex Rodriguez little does she know that he is cheating on her with my ex-wife Jessica poor girl she has no idea who he really is,” Canseco tweeted.
Canseco also claimed to have been with Jessica when she received a call from Rodriguez. Jessica and Jose Canseco have been divorced since 1999.
Jose Canseco continued, “Alex Rodriguez stop being a piece of (expletive) stop cheating on Jennifer Lopez.”
Canseco then tweeted his phone number at J.Lo in case she wants to know “the truth,” before challenging Rodriguez to an MMA fight.

Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time Canseco, the former Oakland A’s slugger-turned-“steroid snitch,” has accused Rodriguez of less-than-honorable behavior off the field and on.
In his 2008 book, “Vindicated: Big Names, Big Liars, and the Battle to Save Baseball,” Canseco accused Rodriguez of using performance-enhancing drugs.
But back then, Canseco also accused Rodriguez of having an affair with ex-wife Jessica, nee Sekely, according to the Daily Beast. Canseco told reporters he was “pretty sure” his then-wife and Rodriguez had an affair and claimed in “Vindicated” that Rodriguez bombarded her with messages and phone calls, the Daily Beast added. It is thought that Canseco made the allegations about Rodriguez and steroid use to get revenge on Rodriguez’s alleged attentions to Jessica Canseco.
It turns out that Jose Canseco was on the mark about one of his Rodriguez claims. A-Rod later admitted to using performance-enhancing drugs and was suspended for the entire 2014 season for violating MLB’s substance abuse policy, USA Today reported. In a 2017 interview, the 14-time All-Star lamented that his use of the drugs might have cost him his place in the Hall of Fame, his reputation and as much as $40 million, the newspaper added.
For some reason, Canseco apparently decide to use the weekend’s news about Rodriguez’s engagement to double-down on those affair claims and to reignite his feud with Rodriguez.
But Canseco isn’t the first person to publicly accuse Rodriguez of being unfaithful to Lopez.
Back in July 2017, when Lopez and Rodriguez were about four months into their relationship, news circulated that Lopez had hired a private investigator to confirm or debunk allegations that he is a serial cheater who was still seeing a former mistress.
Us Weekly reported that Lopez made this move because she was alarmed by a story that broke in the National Enquirer, in which alleged former mistress Lauren Hunter claimed that the former third baseman wasn’t faithful.
“I don’t think he’s sexually attracted to her,” Hunter told the Enquirer at the time.
Hunter said her affair with Rodriguez began in 2011 when he was still seeing actress Cameron Diaz. Hunter said their affair continued even after she had a baby with former football star Marcus Allen in 2014.
Hunter added that she had text messages to prove that Rodriguez had tried to stay in contact, even after he began dating Lopez. Hunter also described his very adventurous sexual tastes, including threesomes.
Sports blogger Larry Brown on Monday called Rodriguez “one of the biggest frauds” in baseball, because of his steroid use and because his alleged attentions to other women was a factor in his divorce from ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis and in his breakup from ex-girlfriend Torrie Wilson.
Over the past two years, Lopez and Rodriguez have evidently shaken off such reports and have been very public about making a life together. In addition to regularly making a splash at red carpet events, they have shared news about their power workout and diet regimens and purchased pricey real estate together, most recently a $6.6 million oceanfront home in Malibu.
They have also posted plenty of Instagram photos showing them with their blended family of his two daughters, 13 and 10, with ex-wife Scurtis and her 10-year-old twins with third husband Marc Anthony.
But even this happy family picture has been marred by reports about a child-support dispute between Rodriguez and Scurtis.
Last year, it was reported that Rodriguez — who is worth an estimated $300 million and earned more than $400 million in his MLB career — wanted to drastically cut his child-support payments to Scurtis from an estimated high of $115,000 a month, tax free, to $10,000.
In November, the New York Post reported that Lopez had pushed for Rodriguez to cut his child-support payments, with sources suggesting that Lopez wanted to “take the reins” of her relationship with Rodriguez.
“(Lopez) is driving the bus,” a source said about the singer’s influence on Rodriguez, according to the Post.
