How to Get Heirloom Shards in Apex Legends (Detailed Guide)
Most games today have multiple currencies that you can use to purchase in-game content. Usually at least one of them is free to earn. Similarly, Apex Legends also has multiple currencies, and fortunately, all of them can be earned for free. Apart from the two main currencies in Apex Legends, there is a third form of currency in the game; Heirloom Shards. So let us find out what Heirloom shards are, how to get them, how rare they are, and what to do with them.
What are Heirloom Shards?
Heirloom Shards are a form of currency used to purchase Heirlooms from the Heirloom Store. They aren’t exactly a typical currency you use to buy Legends or other buyable skins. Heirloom Shards are a special and very rare type of currency that is exclusively used for a single purpose; buying exclusive Heirlooms. There is only one way of getting these shards but it is not exactly an easy way.
What do you do with Heirloom Shards?
The game features a line of ultra-rare cosmetics called Heirlooms that will elevate your experience with your favorite Legend. Heirlooms are usually basic items that can be equipped to show when you are holstering your weapon. Not only that, but they also include various unique intro quips and banner poses for that extra flair. The specialty about them is that they can be equipped with other skins to bring out an even cooler look for your favorite Legend. They come in sets and a single unique heirloom is available for each legend, at least for now. And you buy them using the extremely rare Heirloom Shards.
How do you get Heirloom Shards?
Heirloom Shards are found only in Apex Packs and they are technically free. But the odds of an Apex Pack containing Heirloom Shards. To be exact, every Apex Pack has less than a 1% chance of dropping 150 Heirloom Shards. So getting them for free is going to be a massive grind. If you aren’t going to grind and level up your account to get free Apex Packs, you can buy them at the store for the game’s premium currency, Apex Coins.
However, Respawn has stated that one cannot open 500 packs without getting any heirloom shards. And if you somehow manage to own all the available Heirloom sets, will not be eligible for this bonus until more Heirloom Sets are added to the game.
