Destiny 2’s latest expansion, The Witch Queen, has arrived with a brand new campaign, Season of the Risen, weapon crafting, and plenty more gameplay overhauls to keep veteran players busy for a long time while also enticing new players to Destiny’s evolving universe.
Weapon crafting is a key new addition to Destiny 2 with The Witch Queen expansion that alters the core looter-shooter gameplay formula. As expected, crafting weapons require several resources, the rarest of which is called Ascendant Alloy. Here’s our guide on how to farm Ascendant Alloy in Destiny 2.
Ascendant Alloys in Destiny 2
Ascendant Alloy is an exotic resource introduced in The Witch Queen. You will need these in order to add enhanced weapon traits to the weapons you shape or reshape. Unfortunately, they are hard to come by, and you can get only a handful of them every week. Unlike Ascendant Shards, (another exotic resource in Destiny 2), you also won’t get these via the Season Pass.
The easiest way to get Ascendant Alloys in Destiny 2 is to purchase them from Master Rahool in the Tower, who will have one for sale every week. Keep in mind that this purchase will be tied to your account, meaning you can’t buy another Ascendant Alloy from your other characters.
Each Ascendant Alloy costs 400 Legendary Shards, which is a lot, even for veteran players. We recommend saving these for crafting the exotic weapons introduced in The Witch Queen. Master Rahool will also give you two Ascendant Alloys for free as part of the “Reshaping the Engima” quest.
The other way to acquire Ascendant Alloy is to get it from the Gunsmith, Banshee-44 in the Tower. You will have to grind extensively and reach Gunsmith Rank 16 to get an Ascendant Alloy and an Ascendant Shard as a reward.
For those who are unaware, you gain Gunsmith rank by completing Gunsmith bounties and dismantling weapons and armors. Dismantling legendary weapons and armors will also give you 3-4 Legendary Shards.
While we have yet to test it for ourselves, two other activities are also supposed to drop Ascendant Alloys. These include the weekly runs of The Witch Queen’s campaign on Legendary difficulty and the new six-player activity The Wellspring: Defend Offensive at Master difficulty, which unlocks after you complete The Witch Queen campaign.
Currently, these are the only known ways to acquire Ascendant Alloys in Destiny 2. You can check more Destiny stuff in the Destiny 2 section of our website.
