Tired of leaving red lipstick on anything your lips touch? If you want red lips without leaving any marks, start with a lip balm to give them a natural color. A lipstick made from berries or beet juice is a natural secret to keeping the color of the lips throughout the day. To keep your lips in the best condition, you should use sunscreen and moisturizer to help your lips always have a bright, soft color instead of peeling and darkening.
Steps
Prepare for Lip Care
- Mix 1 tablespoon sugar and 1 tablespoon honey (or olive oil, if you don’t have honey on hand)
- Rub the mixture onto your lips and gently massage in a circular motion.
- Rinse the lips and repeat the operation until the lips are no longer dry.
- Look for serums that both have moisturizing ingredients like oils and have a protective layer to lock in moisture like wax or ceramide.
- Mix 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon or cayenne pepper (sweet pepper) with enough olive oil to make a thick paste. Apply the mixture on your lips for about 5 minutes and then wash it off.
- Mix 5 drops of peppermint essence with 1/2 teaspoon of olive oil. Apply the mixture on your lips for about 5 minutes and then wash it off.
Warning: Since the ingredients in lip plumping products work on the principle of causing mild skin irritation, it’s best to use them in moderation to avoid further drying and flaking.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of beeswax with 3 tablespoons of coconut oil.
- Add a few drops of your favorite essential oil such as peppermint (also, it helps to naturally plump lips).
- Pour the mixture into an old lip balm container and let it freeze before use.
Make Lips Natural Color
- Cherry juice
- Cranberry juice
- Pomegranate Juice
- Strawberry juice (for pink color)
- Beetroot powder is also a great color lipstick. Mix some flour with olive oil for a thick paste. Apply the mixture on your lips and let it dry. Wipe off the remaining mixture on the lips, then keep the lip color with a colorless lip balm.
- You can use canned beets, but the color won’t be as intense as fresh beets.
- Kop-Aid powder can affect color but also leave a sticky residue, and can stain clothes during use.
- Take 1 tablespoon of coconut oil.
- Combine 1 tablespoon Kop-Aid powder or beetroot powder.
- Pour the mixture into a small jar with a tight-fitting lid.
- Use your fingers or a cotton swab to apply the mixture to your lips. However, lip color will melt when it is hot.
Keep Lips Bright and Healthy
- After exfoliating your lips, always remember to apply a layer of lip balm so as not to strip the lips of moisture.
- If your lips are often chapped, try sleeping in a room with a humidifier.
- When you drink alcohol, remember to drink plenty of water. That way you won’t have to wake up with dry lips.
- Avoid foods that are too salty as they can make your lips dry.
Things you need
- Lip scrubs (sugar, honey)
- Lip products (olive oil and cinnamon or cayenne pepper; a piece of ginger or chili pepper)
- Lip balm (coconut or olive oil)
- Colored lipstick (berry juice, beetroot juice, popsicle or Kop-Aid powder)
