How to Make Bruises Melt Fast

Apply cold compresses. Ice your bruise for 15 minutes after a few hours one of the first days after the bruise. Applying cold will reduce inflammation and swelling, helping to heal bruises quickly.

Cover with a warm compress after two days. After reducing the swelling with ice, you need to apply a warm compress (not too hot) directly on the bruise. This will increase blood circulation to the tissues and accelerate wound healing.

Raise the bruise. If the bruise is on a part of your body that you can lift like your arms or legs, make sure you raise the bruise above your heart to reduce blood flow to the bruise. This will reduce swelling and prevent more blood from reaching the injured area as well as reducing the darkening of the bruise. Lifting a bruise is most effective immediately after a bruise.

Do not do heavy sports activities. For the first day or two after a severe bruise, avoid heavy sports activities that speed up blood circulation throughout the body. The more blood is pumped to the bruise, the worse the bruise will be.

Gently massage the affected area. Use your thumb to gently massage around the outer edge of the bruise. Do not press hard or try to rub the center of the bruise, as doing so will cause pain. Make sure you rub in small circles. Doing so will trigger the process of lymphogenesis so that the bruise will dissolve from your body naturally.

Expose the bruise to the sun. If you can let the sun shine directly on the bruise for 10-15 minutes a day, the UV rays will start to break down the bilirubin structure, which is what gives the bruise its yellow color. Sun exposure will speed up this process and make the bruise disappear faster.
