A timeline is a visual representation of events that helps you better understand history, a story, a process, or any sequence of events. You can create a timeline for many topics, they are simply a regular academic project. Fortunately, you can easily create them. To create a timeline, research topics, build projects, and arrange events chronologically.
Steps
Research topics
- Search the Internet, read a book in the library, or visit a museum or historical site that is somehow related to your topic.
- Try to look up many websites, books, articles, and possibly documentaries. You need to have at least 3 different resources.
- Detailed personal information such as date of birth, date of death, and other important dates should be included
- Historical events that affect the theme of the timeline will also be included
- Important events that form the theme should also be included
Create a timeline
- Use a ruler if you create the timeline by hand.
- If you create a timeline on your computer, choose a template from the template.
- You don’t have to start with a person’s birth and end with a person’s death. A timeline is just a sequence of related events, not necessarily a biography.
- Consider topics and limit them to choose the right starting and ending points.
- If you do it by hand, write down all the events on a piece of paper before putting them in the timeline, so you can see how much space each item takes up.
- Alternatively, you can type each event, print it out, cut and paste it into the timeline.
- If you use a computer, create slides for each event.
- Add drawings or images to add more eye-catching to the timeline.
- These timelines are not the year of the event. They are evenly spaced periods, such as 5 years, 10 years, or 20 years. For example, you can mark the years 1920, 1930, 1940, and 1950, even if your event takes place in the years 1923, 1928, 1938, and 1943.
- Sort dates in order. Events should be marked on the timeline in chronological order, not by importance or interest. For example, events listed for a year should start with January and end in December. [9] X Research Source
Fill in the timeline
- The life and times of Ho Chi Minh
- Land of the South: Recent History
- Famous career of Nguyen Tuan
- Ancient pine forest in Yen Tu
- A day in the life of a mantis
- If you create a timeline on your computer, type the entries.
Advice
- If desired, stagger event logging locations. Record an event above the timeline, record the next event below the timeline.
- Try to write in small letters.
- Make sure to cite the source correctly.
- Plan what you’ll include in your timeline before you start working on it, as it can be extremely difficult to erase mistakes or add forgotten events.
- You can get creative and decorate around the items on the timeline for extra fun. For an organized, professional presentation, choose clear shapes like rectangles.
