How to Get Rid of Mosquitoes

Make an eye mosquito trap at home. An easy way to get rid of a mosquito infestation yourself is to make your own cheap and simple mosquito trap. Find a used can or jar (glass jars work especially well) and pour in apple cider vinegar. Mosquitoes love the smell of apple cider vinegar. After pouring into cans or jars, seal the mouth and poke small holes with nails or screws. Place the jar in a place where mosquitoes usually live, mostly in the kitchen or dining room. If necessary, you can make many such jars and place them in many places.

• Mosquitoes will fly into the jar, but won’t be able to get out. When the jar is full of mosquitoes and you no longer see any mosquitoes around, throw the jar away and say goodbye to your mosquito-eye problem.
• If you don’t have apple cider vinegar on hand, any type of vinegar will work. Regular white vinegar will also work, although you may need to add a few drops of dishwashing liquid (lemon flavor is better) to the jar to make it more attractive to mosquitoes. Another method is to chop some bananas or put some banana peels in a jar.
• If you don’t have a jar with a lid, you can make another trap by cutting off the top 1/3 of a soda bottle and turning the cut upside down onto the bottle to create a funnel shape. Wrap tape to secure.

Make traps from alcohol and soap.

• Take a small container (such as a drinking cup).
• Pour some wine to ¾ cup. This is a great way to use up any leftover wine at the bottom of the bottle.
• Add a drop or more of dishwashing liquid and stir gently.
• Leave alone. Before long, thousands of mosquitoes will be attracted to the wine glass. They try to land on the surface of the liquid, but the soapy water reduces the surface tension of the wine. As a result, the mosquito will fall straight down and drown.

Eliminate the food source of the eye mosquitoes. Like other insects, gnats get their food mainly from food scraps you leave outside. The best solution to stopping mosquitoes is to not let them “feed” in the first place. By cleaning the kitchen and dining room regularly and quickly disposing of food crumbs and leftovers, you can prevent eye mosquitoes from entering your home before they become a problem.

• When you store food, make sure it is stored in an airtight container in an airtight container or refrigerator. Store fruits in the refrigerator to prevent them from overripe and attract mosquitoes. ^[1]
• Never leave dirty dishes in the sink because leftover food crumbs can attract mosquitoes. Wash dishes immediately after use and cover the shelves with a clean dry towel.

Close the lid of the trash can. You can prevent mosquito eyes from entering by covering trash cans around the house or in the house. If the trash can outside your house is not covered, mosquitoes can hang out there and also fly directly into your house. By keeping the lid on the trash can, you won’t give mosquitoes a chance to feed on leftovers.

• Avoid leaving garbage bags in the house overnight. Throw out all trash every night and make sure the outside bins are covered.
• Regularly clean household trash cans and scrub lids and surfaces with bleach. Bleach will kill mosquito eyes as soon as it comes in contact.

Do not over-water the plant. Specific types of gnats like to fly around over-watered plants and lay their eggs in the soil. You can prevent this from happening by keeping an eye on the soil and making sure it’s moist rather than wet. Also make sure the plant is properly drained.

Check doors and windows. If you start to see mosquitoes outside, check all doors and windows to make sure they are completely closed and that there are no openings where mosquitoes can enter. If you need to open windows and doors, use a fly screen with a tight mesh, making sure there are no holes in it.

Check for wet places. Eye mosquitoes love moist places to breed, so look for damp corners in the kitchen and elsewhere in the home. Regularly scrub the damp area with bleach or other bleach to prevent mosquitoes from entering. Never leave damp towels or clothing around, and keep carpets and mats in a sunny place to prevent moisture stains from forming.

Treatment of plants infested by mosquitoes. Some species of gnats are attracted to the moist soil of houseplants and even lay eggs in them. There are quite a few things you can do to get rid of gnats and save your plants. At first, you should stop watering the plant until the 2 cm top layer is completely dry. This will cause the eggs and larvae to dry out and die. Unfortunately, the plant may look a bit sullen, but it will soon be happy when watered again.

Make a mosquito spray at home by mixing several tubes of lemon-flavored dishwashing liquid with water in a spray bottle. Spray as desired on the entire plant — leaves, stems and soil.

• Leave the solution on the plant for 1 or 2 hours, this will kill the mosquitoes. Then you need to spray cold water on the plant to wash off the soap, to avoid damaging the plant.

If you’ve done all of these steps and still see mosquitoes around the plant, you’ll need to plant it in a new pot with clean soil.
