Ramen is a popular instant noodle dish. If you have to eat Ramen right away , the microwave cooking method will be very convenient, fast and effective. In addition, you can modify the noodle dish in many different ways to create a complete meal. Here’s how to cook Ramen in the microwave:
Steps
Cooking Packaged Ramen
- To prevent water from splashing in the microwave, you should cover the bowl or cover the bowl with a paper towel. Noodles may float to the top of the bowl during cooking. However, you don’t need to worry because the noodles will still cook.
- Make sure the bowl used is microwave-safe. There is a lot of controversy about the safety of plastic and paper bowls because consumers worry that they contain BPA chemicals and other toxins that can leach into food during microwave processing. [1] X Research Source
- To cook the noodles evenly and to make sure they don’t cook for too long (causing the noodles to overcook and fall apart), stop the microwave at half-time and stir the noodles with a fork. If the noodles are intact, gently press or turn them over to keep them intact.
- If you must remove the noodles from the microwave immediately, use heat-resistant gloves or protective gear and be very careful. At this point, you can put the seasoning packet into the bowl of noodles, while the noodle water is still hot.
- Or you can add seasoning before cooking the noodles. This step will be easier if you cook the noodles on the stove, but you can do it if you cook in the microwave. If you want the seasoning to soak into the noodles (to make them taste better), put both the noodles and the seasoning packet in the bowl. Then, pour water on top for the seasoning to dissolve.
Cook Water Separately
- Depending on how much broth you want, you can use about 1 1/3 to 2 cups of water. Less water will boil faster, but you should measure enough water to make the desired amount of broth.
- Once you’re confident that the water is hot enough, use mittens or kitchen gloves to push the water out.
- Instructions for use on the package or cup of noodles can be a bit vague when you want to cook in the microwave. Although it is not known how dangerous it is to cook noodles in a plastic cup in the microwave, it is best to cook the water separately and then pour it into the noodle cup to avoid the risk of ingesting melted plastic.
Variations
- Miso sauce
- Hoisin Sauce
- Rice vinegar
- Lemon juice
- Sriracha chili sauce or regular chili sauce
- Soy
- Honey
- Spring onion
- Basil
- Before cooking noodles , you should consider adding celery, chopped carrots, garlic or onions to the soup. Alternatively, you can add frozen peas or any frozen cooked vegetables that are available in the fridge to the noodles for added texture.
- After the noodles are cooked , add vegetables or sprinkle herbs on top. Basil and coriander are particularly delicious seasonings. However, why not sprinkle some rosemary leaves along with a spoonful of basil and coriander for Chicken Ramen. It will definitely create an attractive aroma and completely change the Ramen dish.
- If you want to crack the eggs into the broth to increase the flavor and consistency of the water, remove the noodles from the microwave and crack the eggs in. Use a fork or chopsticks to stir well, then return the bowl of noodles to the oven to cook for 1 more minute. Although hot water will cook the eggs, it’s still better to microwave the eggs to cook more.
- Place 1 tablespoon full of salted peanut butter (all-natural) in a bowl. Sprinkle in a little brown sugar, 1 teaspoon soy sauce, Srirach chili sauce or regular chili sauce. Can add grated ginger (if any).
- After taking the noodles out of the microwave, pour out most of the hot water and leave some to mix into the sauce. Pour the noodles into the sauce bowl and mix well. Sprinkle on some coriander and chopped carrots and you have a delicious dish.
Advice
- Sometimes, adding the seasoning packet after cooking in the microwave can make the seasoning difficult to spread, difficult to absorb, and make the noodles taste bad. Therefore, it is better to add seasoning to the noodles before cooking.
- Ramen can be eaten with chili sauce, Ranch sauce and smoked meat.
- To make the noodles taste sweeter, cook 2 packets of noodles and then drain the water. Then, put the seasoning packet, 1 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of butter into the noodles.
- The capacity of each microwave oven may be different, so you need to adjust the cooking time yourself.
- Use beef or chicken flavored cubes or powders to spice up Ramen noodles.
- To speed up the cooling process, drain half of the hot water in the bowl of noodles and pour in cold water. Be careful not to strain too much because it will make the noodles cool. Add 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and chicken seasoning to increase the fatness and aroma of Ramen noodles.
- Salt can be added to enhance the taste. In addition, you can add a slice of cheese to increase the rich fatty taste.
- Add a slice of lemon and Sriracha to the chicken noodle soup for a delicious meal.
- Try adding a hard-boiled egg yolk, red chili powder, mozzarella cheese, and chili sauce to the noodles.
- After the noodles are cooked, you can drain the water and add some grated cheese to the noodles. Cook the noodles in the microwave for another 10-30 seconds and you’ll have a delicious meal in no time.
Warning
- If using a small bowl, watch carefully during the cooking process. The water in the bowl may gurgly boil and spill out of the bowl.
- Do not touch the bowl immediately after the microwave cooking process is over.
- Let the bowl and noodles in the bowl cool down.
- Be careful not to spill the water and noodles when removing the bowl from the microwave.
