How to Make Vampire Fangs

Find a white plastic straw. If you can find a color that matches your teeth then that’s ideal, but otherwise whitening toothpaste or other methods can also help your teeth blend in with the bright white of a straw.

• This method is quick and easy, and the fangs are also easy to remove.

Cut a small section of the straw. If it’s a straw with a bent tip, cut off the end, just above the bend. Use scissors to cut a piece of about 5 cm. You can also hold the tip of the straw over your teeth and look in the mirror to measure a length that is twice the length needed. ^[1]

Fold the straw and cut it into a fang shape. Fold the straw you just cut in half. Use scissors to cut the two sides of the straw into a fang shape. Leave the straw as it is when shaping the fangs to compare and cut for symmetry.

• Do not cut too close to the fold. This part will be attached to the tooth and needs to stay in place so that the canine doesn’t come loose.

Cut the straw in half after shaping the fangs and attach it to the teeth. Cut the straw in half at the fold to get two fangs. Attach these 2 to your two canines or the 2 teeth right next to the front teeth.

Find materials. This method will create realistic vampire fangs that fit your teeth, but it costs money and time. Here is a list of the required materials:

• Alginate, available at dental supply stores and some arts and crafts stores (most convenient to buy from online retailers.)
• A paper cup or mouth guard
• Resin or another casting material. This product is available at craft stores.
• Modeling clay and a small tool for molding, purchased at the craft material store.
• Nail acrylic (2-component powder or liquid) purchased from cosmetic stores (also known as dental acrylic) ^[2]
• Oil wax (Vaseline cream) bought at a cosmetic store.

Make a tooth guard out of a paper cup. Use clean scissors to cut the rim of the paper cup. The rest of the bottom should be slightly above the height of your top teeth. Cut a line in the side of the cup to leave it open to attach to the mouth.

• Skip this step if you already have a mouthguard or you decide to purchase one.

Mix the alginate molding material and pour it into the mouthguard. Read the instructions for use on the product for specific information, as exact usage and timing may vary from brand to brand. Normally, you would mix 1 part alginate and 1 part water in a small dish and mix it with something. Pour the mixture into the mouth guard after mixing.

• You need to act quickly when using alginate by this method. The alginate mold will begin to crack and break within a few hours.

Press the alginate mold into your upper teeth. Gently press the alginate mouthguard against the upper teeth. Wait 3 minutes, then pull straight down to remove. So you will have a mold to print your teeth. This mold will be used in the next step. If there are air bubbles or broken pieces affecting the canine mold, you will have to repeat this step. ^[3]

• Do not push the retainer upward so far that the tooth penetrates the bottom.
• Wait until the alginate hardens before removing.
• If you want to know exactly when you can take the alginate out, try putting a little bit of alginate on your finger and wait for it to harden.

Mix 2-component resin or another molding material. With this method, you can use any casting material that is hard, but the guide here is to use a 2-component resin. Mix 90 ml of one liquid with 90 ml of the other liquid in a plastic or glass dish. Use a kitchen utensil or a stiff stirrer to mix well.

• Choose a 2-component molded resin that will harden when dry and quickly blend together. Make sure the plastic is non-toxic after it dries.

Pour the plastic into the mold. Carefully pour the resin solution into the alginate mold immediately after mixing. Pour slowly to avoid air bubbles entering the mold. Wait for it to dry before removing the mold.

• Within a few minutes of being incorporated, the resin becomes very hot and turns white. Do not touch the mixture with your bare hands.
• After the plastic has dried and cooled, wait another 10 minutes before removing the mold. This will give the plastic inside enough time to dry, and your denture will harden when removed.

Shaping the fangs on the tooth model. Remove the model from the mold when you are sure it is dry. Place a piece of molded clay on the model of the teeth at the location where you want to make the fangs and use a small, sharp tool to create the desired shape.

• You can also put a small piece of clay on top of the teeth just behind the fangs to make it more secure. ^[4]

Soak the tooth model in soapy water. Pour a little dishwashing liquid into a bowl of water, then soak the model teeth and clay fangs for 10 minutes. This will prevent the alginate in the next step from sticking to the clay. ^[5]

Take a second alginate mold impression. Use alginate for the mold as above, but this time you’ll be using a resin model with fangs instead of your real teeth. Press gently to avoid deflecting the fang and lift it up slowly when the alginate mold is hard enough. Check the alginate to make sure there are no air bubbles or broken pieces.

Take out the clay fangs and apply Vaseline cream outside. Pull out the clay canines and use a cotton swab to apply a thin layer of cream over the plastic tooth model, avoiding thick patches of cream. Vaseline cream will make it easier for you to remove acrylic canines. ^[6]

Mix acrylics. Mix the nail acrylic powder with the accompanying liquid, using a disposable mixing cup and stirrer, do not use anything that you plan to reuse. Mix for a few minutes until the mixture thickens like a paste. When you lift up the stirrer, the acrylic mixture will drop like scissors. Mix in more flour if the mixture is too thin, or add more water if too thick. ^[7]

• Acrylic will be very hot when mixed; Don’t let it touch your skin.
• Mix acrylic in a ventilated place.

Pour acrylic into the fang-shaped holes in the alginate mold. Slowly pour the acrylic mixture into the fang-shaped holes in the second alginate mold. Pour slowly to avoid air bubbles and stop pouring when full or nearly full.

Press your tooth model into the mold and wait for the acrylic to harden. Gently press your first tooth model ( without the clay fangs) into the alginate mold. The model teeth will dip into the acrylic, and the acrylic will harden around to follow the tooth shape. You can look at the leftover acrylic in the mixing bowl to estimate the hardness of the acrylic. Gently remove the model when the acrylic is almost firm but still slightly soft. It retains its shape but is relatively easy to remove from the mold.

Remove the acrylic canines and attach them to real teeth. In theory, each fang should fit snugly against the tooth you’re covering, and you can gently press in with your index finger and suck in each fang with your mouth.

• If the canine is not fixed in place, you can use dental glue, dental wax or a piece of gum to stick it on.

Make vampire fangs with cotton balls. Wet cotton balls can be adjusted to the right shape and size and snap onto the teeth of the upper teeth to form fangs quickly.

Shape a vampire’s fangs with a cotton swab. Fix the cotton part of the cotton swab and attach the stick to the real tooth with nail glue.

Shape vampire fangs with non-toxic clay. Shape the clay into a pointed cone or “fang” shape and attach it to the tooth. Wait for the clay to harden before using your fangs to apply makeup.

Use braces wax to make fangs when wearing braces. If you are wearing braces and still want to do vampire fangs, you can easily use braces wax to shape the fangs and attach it between your real canine and the braces.

• Combine wax with clay to create fangs that look more realistic.

Cut the white plastic bottle into the shape of fangs. As long as the plastic bottle doesn’t contain anything harmful, you can use it to cut a pair of canines and attach them to your teeth.

Break the two middle teeth of the fork. Use your hands to break the 2 middle teeth of the white plastic fork to break apart at the base.

• If the fork teeth are not broken at the base, use scissors or a clean, sharp knife to peel away the remaining plastic on the fork.
• Instead of breaking the fork teeth by hand, you can use scissors or a knife to cut them apart.

Cut off the handle of the fork. Using scissors or a clean knife cut the handle of the fork horizontally.

• You will actually cut further than the handle. Cut the fork halfway between the handle and the base of the fork teeth, right where the fork begins to curve.
• The remaining piece will be slightly square, not round.
• Make sure the scissors or fork cutter are clean before using, as the remaining plastic will stick in your mouth after coming into contact with the cutting tool.

Attach the dental wax along the bridge of the two canines. Attach a piece of braces wax or dental wax to the horizontal bridge of the other piece of fork. you can buy dental wax at a drugstore or dental supply store, or online.

• Apply wax to the “in” curved part. This part was originally the front part of the fork.
