How to Draw Dogs

Sketch the dog’s head with a medium circle.

Connect the three lines with the circle to represent the dog’s muzzle.

Add two triangles to the top of the circle to make the ears.

Draw the dog’s neck by adding two parallel lines from the circle.

Draw a large horizontal oval in contact with the neck, representing the upper body.

Draw another smaller oval, overlapping the bottom of the large oval.

Moving on, add another oval overlap to show the lower back.

Draw a line connecting the largest oval to the last oval to represent the dog’s back.

Add connecting lines below to create the animal’s forelimbs.

Draw more irregular rectangles at the bottom to represent the feet (both front and back limbs).

At the base of the oval representing the lower back, draw a curved line representing the tail.

Add to the top of the forelegs a small horizontal oval, these are the leg bones and muscles.

With the sketch done, you can now draw the details of the animal based on the rough.

Compact the drawing by erasing guide lines.

Color the dog.

Draw two circles overlapping each other. The smaller circle is on the left side of the larger circle.

Draw the details for the ears. Add a curved line that cuts the small circle in half.

Draw details on the dog’s face with eyes, nose, muzzle and mouth in a cartoon style.

From the second circle, sketch out the straight and curved lines representing the dog’s body.

Draw the details for the paws and tail.

Repeat the stroke with the ink pen, then erase the excess lines. Draw more details for the teeth and body.

Color to your liking!

Draw an oval and two circles of different sizes for framing.

Apply simple geometry like trapezoids, rectangles and polygons to create details for the dog’s legs.

Draw the dog’s body using curved lines connecting the circles and ovals together.

Use curved lines to detail the dog’s head. Elaborate the manuscript to highlight the animal’s eyes, ears, snout, and mouth.

Use an ink pen to trace again, then erase unnecessary lines.

Color to your liking!

Draw two ovals. The size of one image may be slightly larger than the other, draw them separately but not too far away. This is the key to the drawing.

Overall outline. Draw a line that goes through the top of the two ovals but points downwards. Draw another similar line below the two ovals. For this line, you need to bend a bit right between the two ovals. Then draw the ends of the pins as shown. Extend the two lines above and below the ovals slightly upwards, then draw a circle to represent the head. Draw an extra oval to one side of the head to create the shape of a dog’s muzzle.

Outline the first part. Do the same when you draw the body. Then erase the circles inside the head and body. Draw more ears for the dog: long, down or short, raised. Then draw more tails, long or short is up to you. At this stage, it’s better to have a picture of the breed you want to draw in your mind to show the details in the most appropriate way.

Delete all inner circles. Carefully erase the entire guide circle and oval. Then show off the animal’s fur by adding patches of fur. You can also smudge the graphite slightly to create shadows or shadows on the manuscript. Your dog will become very realistic!
